No
Neither is Eric Dier being your third-choice CB.

Not acceptable, fine. But under the circumstances, surely understandable (given the fourth is A at City)
No Marcus is right - anything other than a win against City away is totally un acceptable and Ange should not only be sacked but hung drawn and quartered...

Spurs fans obsessing about results when this season was only ever about performance and culture is hilarious

Result aside I honestly don’t know how 1 we didn’t get a pen for that blatant elbow in the face which wasn’t masked at all and 2 how Cash didn’t get a second yellow. I know ref’s and VAR swings both ways but there’s actually no defending ether.
There should be a bet, if there isn't, on how long until we get a pen this season. It's getting ridiculous already.

It’s ok to like/love Ange, recognise he has very limited options and STILL be critical of his decision making/in-game management. It doesn’t make you any less of a fan.

I thought we were great today in terms of performance but simply didn't finish our chances. That's not been the case of the season regarding our finishing but I'm over the moon how much Ange got out of what was available to him. Decisions went against us and Matt Cash once again injured one of our players with a reckless tackle. I'm hoping Bentancur is alright and it was more precautionary because there was a lot of build on from today. Gill I thought was good save the unfortunate pass back that led to the events of their equaliser. I thought Lo Celso though was superb and grew into a tremendous performance. Fingers crossed for Bissouma, Lo Celso and Bentancur next week.

Regarding the defence, it is what it is, we knew we needed signings, my preference still is to risk Phillips but the opportunity may have gone now.
We looked like a well coached football team lacking in a top quality cutting edge and with a makeshift defence. We'll be fine long term, although we may have to sack the medical team.

Let's take a step back and remember why we're on this journey with Ange. Just because we had a solid run of 10 unbeaten doesn't automatically make us title contenders.

Today's match showcased a few shortcomings, but that doesn't mean the process under Ange is flawed. We're building something here, and setbacks are part of the game. It's easy to get carried away when things are going well, but let's not forget the bigger picture.

Ange is instilling a style of play that, on another day, could have easily translated into a victory against Villa. We've seen glimpses of brilliance and the potential for more. Trusting the process means understanding that progress doesn't always follow a straight line.

So, despite the disappointment of today's result, let's stay patient and back Ange. It's about building a sustainable foundation for success, not just short-term glory. Our time will come, and in the meantime, let's stand by our team and trust in the process.

In the past, my 11-year-old son was devastated after losses, but with Ange at the helm, he's learning to trust the process. There's a newfound optimism that goes beyond the scoreline. We're standing by our team and embracing the journey under Ange's guidance. COYS
He now knows a lot about the players in the squad, particularly those that wouldn’t get a chance with Sarr, Bissouma, Romero and Maddison in front of them. We know he’s seen enough of Dier, Skipp, PEH and Gil now to know they‘re a notch below what we need and he’ll be looking a Lo Celso, Davies and Emerson and weighing up if they’re in next seasons squad or need replacing. We have a lot of decent mid table level players and a few very good top level players.

I'm sick as a dog with those last 3 results. Absolutely gutted that we didn't win today but again shows how we need much more depth.

No point whining our cards been marked by a growing injury list and costly suspensions. 3 defeats on the spin losing Bentancur and now Citeh away (which I'll now dread) just continues our sorry tale of luck.

As for the match knew as soon as conceded bang on half-time it was going to be a major problem always is when that happens. Emery played a terrific hand by drafting in Bailey/Tielemans on. Let them take control and to note he's never lost to Spurs so says it all, tactically astute, Villa are where they are because of him, shame ex-goon as well.

Holberg on was a sign of the troubles to come once on he's not the creative influence Bentancur is and was until injured. Dier nearly joined to when Udogie looked like he was coming off 1st half immediately got me worried. The team has lost its way since Chelsea and the reserves are not upto it.

I like Le Celso him Bentancur were bossing it first half he just couldn't handle it without him. The strength in depth will always catch us cold and the January transfer window is needed to at least give us options, couldn't come sooner. Ange's honeymoon period is officially over and will have to get use to results like this until the injury and suspension list shortens.

Obviously the injuries are playing a significant part, but we aren’t helping ourselves by failing to adjust to the situation we’re in.

Mourinho and Conte were (rightly) slaughtered for playing one way and not having a Plan B but Ange does the same thing, just at the complete opposite end of the spectrum.

We played the game today like we were down to ten men from minute zero. We’re already playing two full backs out of position, don’t then leave outrageous amounts of space down the left and right wing for the opposition to exploit. The counter attack was on every single time we lost the ball.

When it works, we look brilliant, but it won’t ever stop being incredibly naive and dangerous.

This post is not intended to slaughter Ange. Im very excited or our future under him (if he is rightly backed), but he needs to understand he doesn’t have comfortably the best squads in the league anymore. Davies and Emerson needed help today and he left them dangerously exposed.

What do you suggest he should have done differently out of interest?

Do we really think one setback means the whole process is a bust? Give me a break. It's frustrating to see the lack of patience and trust in the team's development.

To those so quick to criticize, do you even understand what building a successful team entails? Maybe take a step back and consider the bigger picture before throwing Ange under the bus.

This negativity is doing us no favors. Let's support the team through thick and thin instead of adding to the toxic vibes.
my 11-year-old son wasn't as disappointed as some of the so-called fans out there. Why? Because he gets it – he's trusting Ange and the process.

If an 11-year-old can grasp the importance of patience and support, why are some of us struggling with it? Let's take a cue from the younger generation and show some faith in the journey we're on.

Ange deserves our trust, and so does the process.

We somehow pulled Lady Luck on a drunken night out and had month long fling before she got bored and went back to her billionaire husband.

I thought I suggested as much in my post tbh. I wouldn’t have Udogie or Porro popping up inside the opposition penalty box every time we went forward. Porro is a fantastic short and long distance passer, he would’ve still been effective with his passing alone, he didn’t need to vacate the right back spot. In Son, Johnson, Gil, Lo Celso and Bentancur, we had enough to cause Villa problems.

A rarity, but I'm not going to be critical, nor am I at all downhearted, after that game, despite the defeat.

Some reading this might think this is sour grapes, or even pure copium, but Villa must be laughing themselves silly to get the three points today. Considering the general passages of play across the 90 minutes there was one team who made all the running and looked the far superior outfit with the ball and the nucleus/potential to grow a hell of a lot more.

For large spells today I thought that was the best performance - in terms of consistently putting possession and attacking sequences together and working the ball around the pitch - we have put in this season and by some distance. And this was from a decimated team, missing the complete foundations of the side.

Ultimately we had some tremendous bad luck at times in front of goal, weren't as clinical as we could be, probably got the rough end of a couple of decisions, and Villa tbf were really ruthless at the other end - one set piece goal (our zero centre backs probably not helping here) and the winner was a really sharp goal you have to admit, but was aided by being a bit passive, a bit lazy, and very ball-watchy in the defence and midfield zones for a split second and got brutally punished for that lapse.

All in all I saw encouraging signs, and demonstrations of excellently coached football today. Fans just need to forget the league table and the result of matches at the moment until we can get the foundations back in our team and get a break on the injury/suspension front. The nucleus of a good football team is clearly there though and there is a ton of evidence we're on the right track, but the fruits of that might have to wait a while.

Really don't see what he could have done at the back today apart from throw Dorrington in? The criticism of team selection for the Wolves game is fair, but not today.

I don't think they were a huge threat until Rodrigo came off. You could argue Porro was exposed down our right but again not as if you can play Emerson there instead when he's filling in at CB. Not a lot Ange can do about mediocre replacement players for Bentancur who aren't suited to his tactics.

If the philosophy is to play with the ball in tight spaces then surely it makes sense to throw in players like GLC and Gil. Are they amazing no but they're a better fit than PEH and Skipp.

The Skipp sub was bizarre but I don't think he got a lot else wrong. Now the Wolves match i'll have a different opinion on as Ange had options he failed to utilise.

I haven't seen us press this well since 17/18. And we've been very consistent in it for a number of games now. Great to see as when we're off it on the ball we'll still create stuff by winning the ball high up.

I have no problem with the team selection. It was brave and I liked it. I have a problem with the lack of protection our makeshift defence was given. I’m all in for Ange and we play excellent football but when you’re missing two world-class level centre backs and throw in two full backs, you can’t expect them to do the same job. He needed to adapt and he didn’t.
