I think it’s partly to do with the games still being a terrorist risk. That still hasn’t gone away just because it’s not in the news.
Can't see how the match would be a more attractive destination for a terrorist attack than central London where there are going to be 10s/100s of thousands of people mourning the queen. If anything you would think it less likely a target on a weekend like this. Surely we could beef up the entry security ad tell fans to arrive an hour or so earlier than usual due to the longer security checks?

Chelsea, Liverpool & United all have to squeeze another game into a packed schedule. Shame.
Ooh and Arsenal, forgot about their EL postponement.
But Arsenal will be fresh for Brentford... oh... doesn't matter... we have a Leicester-game. It's ON ! ???

Every single police officer is in London this weekend, so no wonder the games in the Capital are going ahead.

Perfect.

Chelsea v Liverpool is off , that's a London match, it's all down to the rating of a match, Spurs/Leicester is rated a lower security risk than Chelsea/Liverpool so will need less police resources.

haha, this thread is gold

First we get a load of posters telling us precisely why it would definitely be called off

Then the same people unashamedly tell us exactly why it's on

It's a helter skelter of wisdom in here!

It’s exactly why I’ve coasted through life being completely clueless. Who’s the smart one now, eh?

No, really, who? I have no idea.

Good news, good time to play Leicester while they are on the rocks. Am pleased that the policing requirements for this one allowed it to happen - clearly if we had been playing Woolwich this weekend then it would have been off....

It's a waste of time trying to apply any logic to a bunch of pricks!

Weirdly this is the first of four consecutive home games that will kick off at 5.30pm on a saturday. I thought teams in Europe were meant to play on Sundays. Something doesn't seem fair here.
I'd be annoyed if the Sporting game was Wednesday but the fact it's tonight still gives us nearly 4 days rest.

Yeah but it is a strange anomaly like when we had to play 3 MNFs in a row in the leicester season, which I'm convinced was a massive advantage for them as we were always playing catch up. However, it might not be a problem this season if we are playing before the other teams in the CL (I don't know, I haven't checked) and might actually be beneficial. It is just a weird quirk that we are playing at that kick off time. Annoying too to a degree if fans want to go to all the games as it means any saturday night plans are pretty much screwed. I'll be amazed if I can go to them all.

Just teams in the Europa leagues, not Europe in general. That's why Arsenal, West Ham and Man Utd are gonna be in the Thursday-Sunday cycle.
Champions league clubs can play on the Saturday. Wednesday - Saturday giving us the same gap between games as the Thursday - Sunday schedule.

Otherwise it'd be Arsenal, West Ham, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and us all unable to play every Saturday.

And half of the Champs League games are Tuesdays so we'd have to play Saturday preceding that.

Wednesday to Saturday is the same as Thursday to Sunday. And 5.30 is the latest KO. Plus being home games it means less travel following Europe home or away.

To be fair, The Bin Dippers had a bunch of Saturday 12:30 kick offs after Wednesday CL games in recent years. Probably the others too but I recall Klopp being very vocal about it and rightly so.
