Goals on sunday pundits suggesting we were too defensive and our fans won't put up with it...

Poyet talking alot of sense making them look clueless.

Anti Mourinho agenda we'll get in some quarters. It’s the first game we’ve played defensively since he’s arrived.

Anyway, I’m hoping it’s the moment that it clicked in the players minds even though we lost. Listen to him, follow instructions to a tee and we will be better for it. We desperately need to see some wins though now in the league and could do with putting a run of 2 or 3 wins together or else even the EL places will be out of reach soon.

I want to take this time to write FUCK OFF Gary Neville. That **** is such a fucking hypocrite when it comes to us; here's a few examples to illustrate what I mean.

We have a game plan to defend deep and make it hard for Liverpool to find spaces in front of our defence. It works well for the best part of 35 minutes until they score, then it's awful. For as long as we sit in shape and affect our game plan he moans how bad we look and yet the moment we start venturing out and being creative he states "it's probably what Liverpool want". OF COURSE IT'S WHAT THEY WANT YOU DICK, THAT'S WHY WE HAVE SAT BACK TO STOP THEM BREAKING AT PACE!!! He snipes at us for sitting back like it's not a legitimate way of defending against Liverpool and yet the moment we open up that too is not a good idea.

Liverpool press high and win the ball back to create an opportunity for themselves. This to Mr Neville is an example of great pressing but when Spurs do it it's because of mistakes from the Liverpool players. Not mistakes that our press forced them into but just mistakes.

We pass it through Liverpool and it's down to errors from them. Liverpool pass it through us and it's "a great passing move". Right, so we ignore Eriksen leaving a massive corridor to feed it through and Tanganga slipping at a crucial moment as mistakes that lead to Liverpool going through. Yet a slip from TAA or Gomez stepping out too soon are reasons to call out our move as a result of Liverpool making mistakes.

Last ditch tackles from Liverpool are celebrated, last ditch tackles from Spurs are seen as desperate.

This bloke sets the tone for how the audience feel about the game. Anyone can see that Liverpool pressured us into kicking it long and I'm not going to pretend that our midfield not passing it properly was entirely about our shape, Eriksen and Winks did hide at times but Liverpool pressed well too.

We weren't perfect, but there was a plan and had we snatched a goal or two with our late attempt's we'd have called it a well executed one. Neville painted an entirely different picture and it fucks me off.

The media and so called fans criticising Jose are just so out of order , I have only just watched his post match conference on the game , and what he says is just so true if we had gone at Liverpool from the start we would have been taken to the cleaners.
For those that go on about how Liverpool dominated possession well just go back over some of their games this season apart from Man C and a couple of other matches they usually have 60% possession.

The tactics were right , Sonny and Giovanni could have changed the whole post match discussion.

Mourinho has to get the midfield sorted. The CM position while NDombele is out has to contain creativity. The DM position (strength) . Until we can get something there that can dominate other teams in the middle we will have a problem

Now is also the time for Jose to ditch Eriksen,Rose and Jan....hurts me to say Jan, but its time for his sake and ours.

Well one thing that always happens with commentators is that if a team goes ahead they will get a lot of praise from then on...unless the other team scores . Add to that Liverpool's stellar season and its an easy trap for second rate commentators to fall into...commenting on the score not the performances .
Lot of that in here too , tho not for this match where we are praising our defeated team.

I think scoring goals will be more of a problem if we don’t buy a striker with Harry out.

We were setting up with what we had available against a team able of cutting through sides at will. That's not even mentioning our defensive frailties either. We kept it at 0-1 since the goal went in, and had enough chances to win it in the end. The plan was to keep it tight, within one goal and to attack at the end with fresh legs. Some may call it boring, I call it playing to your strengths at that time. We needed that for ages. I'm just surprised Mourinho hadn't been able to get this going sooner.
He said why he hasn't been able to do it until now in one of his interviews pre or perhaps post match: he's just had a full week training the squad, I think for the first time since he arrived.

Until last week, he was referring repeatedly to the lack of time to instill any of his overall methods and tactics, because all he could do was to work out tactics for the next match in a few days. He said he was looking forward to working with the squad in January. Then we lumbered ourselves with an FA Cup replay and two key players got injured. So he'll do the best he can with whoever is available in the time available.

Mate couldn’t be more spot on, this is why he was a god awful manager.

Jose had a clear plan to curtail and frustrate them and then as they tired and gaps appeared and the time was right we pushed for a goal or 2, that was the best plan given what we had available.

I used to like Neville as a pundit but you’re right he’s such a hypocrite when it comes to us and Carragher is just a twat.

I much prefer BT sport coverage nowerdays as sky punditry always has an agenda or it’s just plain hypocritical and shit.

I’m with you on this brother.

He won’t get the credit for playing tanganga or praising him in this interview but he should do. Now he just needs to blood skipp and parrott starting on Tuesday night.

1. Liverpool got the throw that led to their goal when it should have been our throw = it happens and we should have defended better
2. Henderson handballed it = don't think so and if he did it was not clear and obvious
I can accept both the above decisions, but I cannot accept that VAR looked at Robertsons foul on Japhet and concluded no card - not even a yellow! He was out of control and overstretched, yes he clipped the ball first but his follow through resulted in 6 studs on our mans leg, what happened to all that wreckless challenge stuff or does that not apply to Liverpool players?

I do get that, but the first full week was before Chelsea and that was awful. I wasn't expecting things to turn overnight. I haven't seen any differences in our defending in any game until yesterday. I was at least hoping for small signs each game, even if little ones creeping in.

Much better when Alli, Kane, Son and Moura all don't play in the same position and when instead of Sissoko playing as secondary RB we have something resembling actual midfield. Too bad Rose is done at this level and offered nothing.

Even at his best Barca and Madrid would have never paid what levy demanded for him. He is and always will be a good but not great player.
Assume you're talking about Eriksen here? Because I'd say Coutinho was a bigger star for Liverpool than he's ever been for us. Regardless, nobody would've been at all happy with us selling any of our leading players, but are happy to now say we should have done so having watched Liverpool's success with the strategy.

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday...I don't actually watch Liverpool much, but for all this talk about how Gomez partnering VVD has led to the uptick in their defensive performances and the run of clean sheets...wow. Gomez is awful with his feet. He's Mamadou Sakho part 2...every time he was on the ball yesterday he looked like he was going to give it away. May be a decent defender, but on the ball I thought he was hopeless. Teams should be attacking him in possession.

I couldn't believe MOTD pundits dismissing the challenge because he got the ball. Robertson lost the ball after a poor touch and went after it rashly and caught Tanganga with a dangerous challenge. This is a Red card offence every single time.

And the way Robertson pretended to be injured himself as if Tanganga had caught him was a disgrace.
