I think he'll go 4231

Wasn't it his default last time?

I still think we need to go 5 at the back but free space so the wing backs can actually push forward!

5-3-2 (or 3-5-2)

The problem we seem to have is 2 in CM don't create enough, but then have fullbacks and the wide forwards all playing in the same area and getting in each other's way.

Forster
Romero Dier Lenglet
Porro Skipp Sarr Davies
Perisic
Richarlison Kane
Though you could have about one of 3/4 to play next to Kane of behind. Went for Perisic as his creativity is probably better than anyone else.

It would give us an extra person in midfield, space for the wingers to run into and hopefully play more fluid.

I'm going to this game.

I'm not happy about it.
Then don't go?

Perhaps perisic in midfield may work, he is terrible at wb, but he does have ability.

He played well in midfield for Croatia. Perhaps may be a good shout.

First goal is so big tonight, if United score it heads will drop and the moans in the stands will start.

Can’t see much changing tonight - the mould has well and truly been set by the last 3 managers - its firmly ingrained in the players psyche a couple of training sessions wont change that

The team is so poor now that it's almost a safety first approach needed to avoid another tonking. That wont excite the home crowd of course, but its hard to see us coming at them effectively without opening the door at the back.

Mason might want to go with 4231 again, but he'd be risking a bad start and deterioration from there again.

It's les about the formation, and more about how we've been acustomed to playing. Against Toon, you could still see Conte's influence with the first repnse to a bit off pressure being to pass back to a wide CB, then play it across the back and up the sides, with no effort to get the ball into the midfield (where we had an extra man compared to noormal). Across the back and up the sides is tough when you have one fewer CBs than normal, and particyulary so when Lloris is in goal. Forster should help, but it will take time for the team to remember that it is allowable to play the ball in the centre circle after the first touch from kick off.

If you look at the games when Mason took after last time, his focus was on a higher line, more possession and more chances created, it was a 4-2-3-1 and most similar to Pochball. Given the players we have available he will likely go with 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 but I expect us to play with a bit more energy, try to keep more of the ball than we have been doing and be a little bit freer and create a few more chances. This might be difficult tonight as he's only had 2 days on the training ground but the final 3 games we should see more of this style of play.

We will also see tonight how far just a bit of simple positivity and confidence and freedom and belief can do to a team, sometimes tactics etc can be a bit overrated, ofc they're important but a teams confidence and momentum imo is more important or at least equally important.

"Ryan Mason's Blue & White Army!! ... we want Levy out".

This seems likely to me after the battering. Gives us some degree of defensive solidity so we don't get embarrassed again but throws Rich into the mix to provide something different with his energy and aggression.

Would expect the players to be a bit more independent on the ball rather than sticking rigidly to the Conte passing patterns, too.

He'll play Davies over Lenglet if they're both fit, though. Might play Davies over Perisic, come to think of it.

It’s a 352 for me with who we have available.

Forster
Romero Dier Lenglet
Porro Sarr Skipp Holjbjerg Davies
Richarlison Kane

Son and Kulusevski when off the boil are passengers. However dropping Son is my only doubt about this team as you never know when he’ll show a glimmer of brilliance.
