Finally can enjoy my week fully again and not have to draw my joy just from my family anymore

We win, yet I don't get very much from it. Once again we go behind and make it difficult and that's the only time when we seem to take the game with more Intensity.

Johnson did well for the first - he had a good cameo but not a great performance overall and in line with how we have been since before Christmas.
I thought we were very good second half, and the end of the first half where we injected some pace into our play we were camped in their half.

Palace didn't deserve a thing from the game.

Its difficult against a low block and we've still got players who aren't playing that well either.

But the only thing that matters is we won. People were worrying about United playing poorly and winning but when we apparently play poorly and win its a catastrophe and unsustainable.

The quote "only bad players are luxury players" springs to mind. He adds quality where we need it.
OK agreed but where's he going to play? Is he going to alternate with Maddison? Which I'm fine with but that's Man City kind of spending. We are the 9th richest club in the world but don't seem that keen on massive splashes of cashes.

Great character to come back and get the win but we really need to see a cohesive 90 mins of football. We keep having good 10 min spells but that is just papering over cracks imo.
It's nor papering over cracks. It's signs of a team going through phases and struggling to hit the top note required.

Liverpool under Klopp did the opposite.

60 mins of wave and wave of attack followed by 30 minutes of being vulnerable if they hadn't scored.

No team and coach becomes complete in the first year

No, but it's well-documented that they're very good at home.

We should get a lot of chances with their high line, but so will they.
Won 2 drawn 1 of their last 7 at home (all comps) They're not as good as they were at the beginning. Hopefully their highline will have to rely on lenglet/chambers still

That 10 min period as fantastic, back to the early part of the season when we was blowing teams away, the first 65 mins were a massive concern though.

on to villa, much harder test. Hopes we up to it.

Was it pretty? No. Do I care? No.

Delighted that Johnson assisted Werner. Two players that desperately needed a confidence boost. Thought Johnson definitely brought something different when he came on.

Micky VDV was my MOTM, but shout out to Emerson. For all the crap he was getting before the game and everyone who was suggesting to play someone else at RB, I thought he was perfectly fine throughout.

In which case we need the manager do adopt a smarter strategy which is what Emery will do.

We do need to move the ball with more urgency though and actually take some risks to make things happen in the final third. I don't think Bissouma and Bentancur have done this well enough. Also, I think Porro missing is huge because he can do a lot more of that on the right side but also cause more chaos with his quality passing, shooting, and quick burst of pace. Werner and Udogie and Maddison could also learn a whole lot more about how to move together and keep the passing crisp.

Agree with you that we 3 points is king, but we have got to get the measure of the low block. City, Arsenal, Liverpool can do it, we nee to figure out how to more consistently

I would argue that 'perfectly fine' is not good enough for the 9th richest club in the world with ambitions to be in the top four and win trophies.

Creativity and keep banging the door.

Those 3 you mention are miles ahead in their development under their various coaches and yet they've still been seen to struggle against a low block. City almost lost to Chelsea the other week because of it. Liverpool scored a 99th minute winner today.

Really don't think people appreciate how tough it is against low block teams or teams playing for a counter.

It's very very rare for a team and coach to blitz it in the first season.

Klopp was constantly caught out by these teams.

Thats cause you have very little space and time, which means the interplay has to be super super sharp and players need it to all come second nature.

That isn't going to happen in the first 18 months or so. Especially in the PL.

You often see our players make a pass behind the target or fail to look in the right direction or be a split second too late.

All these little details make a big difference and they normally take time cause players need to get on the same wavelength.

But they need time and games for that.

Earlier in the season we had more space, especially through the centre. So out players could see passing lanes easier.
Teams are blocking them so players lose that instinct.

Another factor is that all of Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison have lost their flow, again time will cure that.

Just have patience
