As Alan Shearer said, sometimes you make your own luck through gambling and making the runs. On another day Bowen is passive and Vicario gathers it.
Alan Shearer was talking horsesh*t...Make your own luck, a lucky bounce off the back of a heel that literally fell into Bowen's lap because he happened to be in our penalty area, which is where attacking players are supposed to be when the ball is in the last 3rd of the field and a skewed shot from a Ward-Prowse that on another day could have hit the post and gone out for a corner, and that comes from a dumb ass unnecessary backpass from one of pur own players.

If its all about making you're own luck then where was ours when it ricoched off Zouma onto their own post and out for a corner.

Yes we were below par in the 2nd half but West Ham played some of the most cowardly football known and they get two lucky deflected goals and pundits like Shearer and some of our fans are saying that they deserved to win, based on what ? A bit of luck that translates as you make your own luck and if it falls your way it equates to meaning you must deserve to win.

If they'd gone toe to toe with us they'd have been beaten out of sight. I'm not denying that our finishing and last ball in the final third was not good enough but for anyone to suggest that this means they deserved to win is a complete work of fiction.

A lucky discarded lottery ticket blew in the wind and found its way into the Spammers grubby mits, and they were rewarded for it by playing a negative brand of cowards football....

So... Mbappe?
That's just taking it to extremes, just like every time someone criticises what's going on Conte ball is thrown up as the only alternative.

Fact is there are players available if the asking price is met, and you damn well know it. Now the question is how far are we prepared to push things financially. I'm certainly not advocating paying stupid money because that'll cost us come the Summer, but I do believe a calculated risk should be taken in January because that CL spot and the money that goes with it is certainly there if we are brave enough to go after it.

A quality CB is a must and I'm starting to think a forward is also. I know it's a lot but a 70-80mil outlay on two players(that we will need regardless come the Summer) could pretty much pay for themselves by securing CL football.

urrrgh.
I can take losing to most teams, but these ****s are a different breed.
Their turdy fans won't shut up about it all season because although they deny it, it's their cup final.
Last night will have made their season.

Another Jekyll and Hyde performance. Right from the half time kick off we were sloppy and gave them encouragement, which they took and built on. We never really got going after the break and then the mistakes started creeping in. Bizarre substitutions only compounded it, but the biggest problem throughout was our completely ineffective front line (not for the first time). They looked like they couldn't score in a fortnight. Deki wasted opportunity after opportunity, Johnson was timid and Sonny couldn't get a sniff. They didn't have to defend the flanks because there was no threat there, so they clogged up the middle. Ange then decided to take off our 2 best players in Gio and PEH.

The 2 rebounds could have gone anywhere, but went straight to WH players which was a proper kick in the bollocks.

I was there last night, we should have been out of sight by half time but we either shot straight at their keeper, scuffed shots or blazed them over. Second half Spam realised they couldn’t play as openly as they were and their defensive wall proved our un-doing and apart from Richarlison’s miss, we didn’t create much. Saying that, both their goals were ridiculous…

Most annoying thing for me is the fact that had we put the game to bed and got the three points I'd have had us as huge favourites against Newcastle. I watched their game before our match and at half time, and they were really poor.

Now it'll be a nervy game with both teams coming off the back of disappointing defeats. Not ideal for us as they'll be desperate to bounce back as well.

I think Sunday has just become the biggest game of the season so far, we absolutely have to stop this rot.

Even City, the so-called best team in the world, struggle to break down the low block sometimes- even with the wealth of talent at their disposal.

We created chances last night but didn’t take them. When that happens you can often end up with a bloody nose. If Richarlison had scored that header, we probably don’t lose.
he's got to do better.. if he cant put that away then we dont need him

Vlahovic doesn't make the difference in this game though if you have the likes of Deki continually checking back.
I think it was a tactic because it happened so often. Probably not much point crossing when you only have Son in there with about 5 West Ham players. Vlahovic changes that.
Deki was terrible but it also didn't help that there was no movement when he was looking to check it back to someone.

The thing that has stood out for me throughout this dreadful run is how badly we are missing Maddison. He knits everything together for us and has also been very consistent.

Let it go.
Settle for some good football and re-building.
I like the style and the Manager
but it will take time.
We might just scrape into Europe.
We probably won't play as badly again
and the opposition won't be quite as fortunate.
Maddison will be back after Xmas
and perhaps a useful addition or two
We have re-discovered Lo Celso.
5 games running we have taken a lead
and not gone on to win.
Hope that's out of our system now.
Enjoy what you can and put the rest down
to a learning experience for the future.

Don't force it Phoebe

They also put about 4 players on him each time. We didn’t utilise the left side enough last night and think that’s to do with Johnson. He needs time I know, but not quite sure what type of forward he is yet.

West Ham fans are not happy on BBC match reaction. They know they were lucky and played negatively to ground us out. They were just happy to take the win. They know they got schooled technical wise and took the freebie goals

I'd be quite happy to see Johnson and Kulu swap sides when we can't get balls into the box. You'd think it would be worth a shot at least.
