Seems Ashley Phillips is having a good game, singled out on SSN, match reporter saying he’s going to be a superstar.

Intrigued to note that the two Wigan academy players we went for in the summer of 2020 are now back playing in the same team.

We, of course, were successful in our bid for Devine, but Jensen Weir went to Brighton and joined Port Vale on loan this week.

Will be interesting to see how the Vale fans compare the two.
I thought we went for Devine and Gelhardt?

Yeah the club is in a shambles, staff are wearing coats as they aren't heating the offices, the kitchen staff have been let go so the players microwave their own food, players will be sold this month etc, etc...
Isn't @Shanks' boy at Reading too?

If they are not even heating the offices then I would fear for the youth team.
I was in the same bucket as an Academy player many years ago at a Division 2 club and it was heartbreaking to be part of.

Yes mate.

Protests have been going on since last season, club have had 16 points deducted over thr last 2 seasons, and have been under transfer embargo for several years.

Before Christmas lots of staff got made redundant, including catering staff.

Staff are often not paid.

Academy will be down to a cat 2 or maybe 3 next season, along with likely relegation again div 2.

Recently a fan group met with CEO group of thr club and thr outcome of this, and reading between the lines, they are looking to asset strip, liquidation to save debt paying so a very real chance the club could go fully under.

On a more player focused aspect, first team players being sold (offers accepted) without the first team manager or thr players themselves being told.

My son has been verbally told he'll be getting a pro contract, but keeps getting pushed back, all the while telling clubs he isn't available.

Further to that, players going hungry during the day due to catering contract not paid too.

It's an absolute shambles

I know you said he's got a good head on his shoulders but I hope he's managing with all this.

From my own experience, for a long time I blamed a similar situation for my football career never really getting kickstarted because I had my contract terminated in the midst of an asset strip. In hindsight I don't think I was ever ready to make the step up but as a young lad it took me a few years of finger pointing to realise that.

I k ow ita way off topic, but your experience is one I'm.reallt aware of.

Our conversations are the same, it doesn't matter what's going on, he needs to train hard and perform, no matter whats happening, for a move, contract or whatever...

Seems to be pretty focused regardless, just gets on with it.

Broke his finger in the week, cut his gloves up, stitched 2 fingers together, strapped his hand inside and played the full 90 against a strong arsenal side today - played really well too

Two goalkeepers on the bench again. Unbelievable. Ange is awesome in so many ways but this pettiness is always going to be something that really pisses me off.

I don’t think it’s pettiness but it is frustrating.

Im not really sure who the other guy would be? Nile John? Sess?

either way - 3rd keeper is cray cray

Sess is injured again, so it wouldn't be him.

Just noticed that United have named for Spurs boy Omari Forson on the bench. He turned down a scholarship with us three or four years ago. He's a versatile attacking midfield player. Another one of our former schoolboys Reuell Walters was on the bench for the Gooners last week.

Wasn't Forson leaving the reason why we signed Devine?

Haven't Man U got two keepers on their bench too?
Have we got anyone else who's worthy of a bench place at the moment?
Or should we just be sticking people on there for the sake of it?
