Scarlett on as sub for Ipswich in the 72nd minute. They're leading 1-0 at St Mary's, The Dell, the SCBC whatever the name is.

What happened over the summer to see such a massive change in our U21's?

Same coach but such a different level of performance. It's like night and day.
There have been personnel changes. Phillips is new, Ashcroft, Lankshear and Soonsup-Bell are as good as new, Dorrington and Donley have gone from boys to men. But the likes of Lyons-Foster, Santiago and the absent tonight John have also raised their game. The energy is just so different, last season the aggression in the team was more likely to result in red cards than goals. The players just seem so much happier.

It's a lot of the U18s and U19s team that won their leagues last year right?

Veliz is overthinking things with his finishing but good to see him get into those positions. Definitely highlights that he's not ready yet to be called on by Ange.

Not really, from the starting line-up, just Donley and Dorrington, who were being bled into the U21s last season anyway. Gunter has played a bit but we’ve not seen all that much of Kyrematin, Andiyapan or McKnight, and nothing of Abbott, Linton, Heaps or Williams.

Let's not get on his back for missing a few. Let's recognise that was his first minutes for our club at senior or u21 level. He was in the positions, making runs. It'll come.

Some really good performances and promising players.

Veliz and Dorrington not there yet imo. Need more minutes in that comp and hopefully not against B sides.

Clearly a bit rusty. Nothing to worry about imo.

So many positives. A clean sheet. Lyons-Foster again the lynchpin of the team. Donley pulling the strings. Ashcroft and the outstanding Soonsup-Bell combining so well down the right.

Really looking forward to seeing them against League One opposition. I suspect Peterborough and Cambridge will be putting out strong sides after tonight.

100%. Got into some good positions and just needs a bit of sharpness. Was trying to be too cute.

Yep, and he’ll get there sooner rather than later playing in this side.
