What has caused the complete about turn in performances at this level for us. Is a change in coaching philosophy being flowed down from the top?
Is it a shake up of the squad, moving on players that had stagnated, opening up spaces for sole younger talent.
Or is it a combination of both?
Because we’ve gone from relegation strugglers to strutting our way to the top of the table in swashbuckling fashion.

Having a chat with a few of them, just said whole culture has changed since last year, more relaxed, but hard working, learning and playing football they all enjoy

I Cudnt find a thread for this but the bbc article on Andria Townsend today had me thinking it would be great to bring him back to replace Perisic 🤞 I admit I’ve always had a soft spot for him and he’s only Perisics age

Surprised Veliz didn't make the bench.
Probably moved back to the 1st team. My assumption is the only reason he was in the last u21 game was because he was injured for 2 months and needed some minutes after less than a week in training.

Basically being used as training cones for the first team likely zapped them of their motivation and joy. Mentality and the importance of being in the right headspace is still so underrated in sports in general.

I’m sure you’re right but one would think after the missed opportunities he had that another game under his belt wouldn’t go amiss. I can’t really see him getting an opportunity ahead of Richy any time soon.

Jamie Donley's Dad

Pretty encouraging to see what a great guy Donley’s Dad seems to be. Hell of a talent with a good environment around him bodes very well. Easy to compare players to Kane, he very likely won’t be anywhere near as good, but the way he excels is very similar. Superb technique, high football IQ and great decision making/execution. The kind of player that will integrate really easily into first team level around better players when the time is right

Ange has said he wants him to get some more U21 game time to get him up to speed.

The culture has been changing for 2-3 years now, but we are only really seeing the fruits of this as the younger ones push up through the age groups. It's far more than the Ange(although I'm sure that plays it's part) feel good factor over Conte. FP changed so much behind the scenes as far as recruitment, coaching and retaining our better players that often used to choose to go elsewhere at the first opportunity. I know I keep banging on about how much he has done in this regard but I do believe if it is built upon rather than overhauled to fit the incoming DOF's way of doing things it will have a much bigger impact than the first team signings he's been responsible for.

I'm genuinely gutted Gabbanini has gone, and will also be if FP moves out of the picture completely because what they've done behind the scenes is very impressive and was pushing us very hard in the right direction.

This is probably why we are seeing both u18 and u21 absolutely smashing their leagues then

A tiny bit off topic here but did anyone watch the u21 v Stoke?
More importantly the first 4 mins when the camera is focused on the crowd and players entrance? There seems to be a bit of drug dealing going on with some of the Stoke youngsters with a guy in the crowd, anyone else want to have a look and corroborate it for me?
