Is there any opportunity Parrott comes back as a first team player for us?
Seems to be doing ok on loan, but at 21 he has Scarlett, Véliz, Lankshear and Soonsup-Bell for competition, all a year or so younger than him.

I can't see it myself, I reckon this loan is all about finding some value in the lad.
Which is kinda sad to say but it's the nature of the beast.

I think we've got better prospects coming through, although I'd love to be proved wrong on Troy.

We have better talents but they don't have the senior experience that parrot has and is showing.
It's interesting that we clamber for our players to go out on loan and when they do we seem to think they should be replaced by other prospects who are in the academy.

We have seen countless Mikey Moore's come through the club and upteenth Velizs. Every player that performs well at youth level gets billed as the second coming and what really do we have to show for it? Edwards was supposed to be mini Messi and he seems to have found a decent level in the Portuguese league. What happened to Reo Griffith, Nya Kirby, Onomah and Oakley Booth. These players that get billed as superstars in the making and then go out into the men's world and disappear.

On the other hand so many players that are unhyped leave the club and pop up 5 years later having moved up the ladder slowly like Berchiche, Troost ekong, Veljkovic or Adam Smith. Even Kane was definitely not the most talked about talent in his team before making a breakthrough after some loans.

I think we perhaps think our youth players are far better than they actually are and unless we've seen them tested against men we actually have no idea how they will cope.

For me I'd pick Parrott over any in our youth team any day of the week for a squad role at least until they had proven themselves in men's football.

(Not at you, just an interesting observation)

Have to wonder how much of a Spurs player he feels in any case. Someone will correct me, but the last match I remember him playing for us was under Jose against Burnley(?) in 2020.

He probably knows it himself that he's playing for suitors and has done for a couple of years.

From Ali Gold a few weeks ago:

football.london understands that Parrott remains desperate to prove himself at Tottenham. Clubs in Serie A and the Championship are believed to be monitoring his situation at the north London club.

Spurs for their part are keeping an equally close eye on his development. The club's head of football strategy Andy Scoulding has travelled to the Netherlands to watch Parrott in action five times this season and was in the stands on Friday night to witness the Irishman's latest exciting display and report back to Postecoglou.

Parrott is expected to remain in Rotterdam for the remainder of the season and then a decision will be made this coming summer over what comes next. He has a contract with Spurs until 2025 and there is understood to be an option within it for the club to extend that by another year.

The young striker wants to catch Postecoglou's attention after injury robbed him of the chance last summer. If he still cannot then the fact that he has a European passport as an Irishman will make him a wanted man on the continent, hence the interest from Italy and he has shown his adaptability to a new culture and league this season.

The striker though wants to repay the faith Tottenham put in him when they brought him over from Ireland as a child. Ultimately, whatever decision is made, at just 21 years old and his career on an upward trajectory as all that potential is starting to be realised, the future looks bright for Troy Parrott.

Mikey Moore is some serious talent. Scary how good a lot of our younger players are:

Keeley, Udogie, VDV, Dragusin, Dorrington, Phillips, Devine, Sarr, Hall, Bergvall, Moore, Donley, Lankshear & Veliz.

All 22 or younger. Fantastic times.

Fair play to the lad then. Great attitude, though I think he's got an uphill task.

Thanks for that.

Parrot is ahead of any other attacking player from our academy if you consider his loans. The only players that come close are Scarlett and Devine but even Scarlett only stayed with the club because they couldn't loan him again.

I just feel like he's going to be one of these under hyped hard working players that breaks into the squad and stays with us for 3 or 4 seasons and then leaves to another premier League team.

I don’t think I’d be too against parrott filling the role that Velez/ Scarlett has filled this year.
Unless Velez smashes it in Spain.
Having said that we will probably need more players next year to cover the amount of games so if Werner doesn’t stay we will need at least 2 of the above mentioned.

After today’s game, the Eredivisie best G+A/90 (minimum ten games) looks like this:

1. Luuk de Jong
2. Santiago Gimenez (linked to us)
3. Vangelis Pavlidis (league top scorer)
4. Brian Brobbey (Ajax’s best player?)
5. Troy Parrott

Also the other four are all at the best teams in the league; Troy’s Excelsior are in 13th with a GD of -5.

Said it before, next season is Parrott's time to try it with our first team. Either make it or be sold afterwards. Scarlett and Véliz should be out on loan.

Gotta agree woth this, Miikey Moore is hitting very differently.

His wont be a physical development issue either, he is a fantastic player.

Although @Locotoro does make a good point in seeing or more to do with fans building up the next wonder kid when the reality is that its actually rare to have a harry kane.

Ive said it a thousand times, wr just dont know how a player will development, some will only.hit decent u18 or u21 levels, some cant make the grade up and others need a little time - pathways are mad in football

Add Massimo Luongo who is currently playing for Ipswich to the list

We need to fulfill the HG/CT requirements if we qualify for European competition next season too. We now only have Skipp, Whiteman, Austin and Scarlett

Malik Tillman (on loan from Bayern Munich) is joint 4th with Brobbey, but still impressive.

Parrott and Tillman are the only players in the top 26 that hadn't played in the Eredivisie prior to this season.
