After scoring the opening goal of the Netherlands’ 4-1 thumping of Belgium in their UEFA Nations League group opener on Friday, Bergwijn this weekend publicly expressed his desire to leave north London. Bergwijn said: “I just need to go play. I want to leave Spurs now, that’s for sure."

Maybe he should have sent a private message to Ajax "just pay what they want and I'll give you a good deal on my salary"

**Disclaimer** I couldn't be assed to read Daily Mail

Think we all know he's going to Ajax , just a fee to be agreed.
Looks like being another probable loss on what we paid for him, that £150 mil cash injection is not going to go very far.

Lack of professionalism right there, understand it is frustrating to not play much and I agree he should have had some more time, but can't be making those sort of statements. Massively weakens our negotiating position, decreasing the chance that someone pays his true valuation.

No one should blame the lad for wanting to pay first team football, but like so many recent signings he was never good enough to sustain an automatic start.

If tranfermarket figures are believable then they have valued Stevie at £16 million , we paid £27 mil. for him doubt we will get anywhere near that.
On the transfer rumours transfermarket have him at 83% signing for Ajax , it's probably all settled bar the shouting which is probably why he has gone public, find out June 10th onwards.

If as expected he goes to Ajax we ain't going to get a big fee for Stevie , Ajax's record signing is Haller from WHU at £20 mil., they are not big spenders.

@SirHarryHotspur why are you obsessing over Bergwijns transfer fee?

Nobody’s asking you to make up the difference. Try and breathe dude…

Why should he care about Tottenham's negotiating position? Tottenham doesn't care about its players. Crouch turned up one day to be told Spurs were signing Adebayor and there wasn't enough room for the both of them. Jenas turned up to training to find his pass to use the first team facilities had been revoked. Football is a cut-throat business and that goes both ways. It's a World Cup year so I understand why Bergwijn wants to push for a move to get the regular football he needs to secure his place in Holland's World Cup squad.

Though I agree, it could have the opposite effect. He may prompt a bidding war.

He should care about it because the chances of him getting the move he wants will be directly linked to the offers we receive. We are looking to replace a lot of players and we are not going to be getting top dollar for most, whilst we have the cash injection the business we do will need to be affordable. I never said that Tottenham's treatment of players has been perfect, I was a big fan of Jenas so yes that was a shitty thing to do.

The fact he wants to play is laudable and as I said I do think he should have played more, I like him as a player. But saying you have been treated badly and you want to leave is quite unprofessional IMO and can directly impact how much we receive for him. Why would Ajax or others pay more when they know we have to sell and he wants away? It increases the chances of them waiting until later in the window, waiting for us to snap and accept their bid...again impacting who we may be able to get in.

Oh and thank you for at least taking the time to reply rather than just hitting the dislike button

I am not sure I get the clamour to keep him. Hes fluffed his lines a number of times and the goal of the season for us was a scuffed shot that fortunately went in off the post. Close control is not the best...get what you can for him and get someone better

Later Steve. Loved you, and no hard feelings. All the best but we're getting martinez and bastoni, so hurry along, and get Ajax to pay up.
