I lived in Korea for 2 years and it's still very bloody different from the UK, believe me.

(South Korea, that is! North Koreans might actually find themselves quite at home in Burnley)

not saying its not different, i always feel Koreans are more open to change and their culture makes it easier to adapt to different lifestyles.

anyway... he is arse now... so i am sure we all hope he doesn;t do well.

Would be interesting to hear the club’s rationale for going for Emerson over Tomiyasu who was reportedly on our radar all summer.

If I were Paratici for approximately €10m less I would’ve went for Tomiyasu & used those funds to get another deal done. I think both are good players but I really like Tomiyasu’s versatility.
I think at the time we were looking at Tomiyasu, we thought Sanchez and/or Dier would be off and Tanganga was pencilled in for a loan. Therefore both RB and CB coverage were prioritised. Tomiyasu allowed us to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

With Tanganga proving himself as an adequate defensive RB and both Dier and Sanchez still at the club, suddenly CB was far less of a priority and signing a dedicated RB made more sense.

Yeah in fairness that's true. (y)

Having watched a 2 minute clip of Emerson and nothing of Tomiyasu, I am convinced Emerson will prove to be the much better signing.

Tomiyasu isn’t actually a full time right back, Emerson is. We didn’t sell Sanchez or loan Tanganga. It’s fairly clear why we went for the specialist right back and not Tomiyasu - as good as he does look.

Korea is very different from Japan. Frankly, Korea has more "western" influences as compared to Japan, who likes to keep everything "in house"

i really don't think he will settle. but hind sight is 20/20, so we shall see how he does at arsenal

Japan is also very culturally different to Italy. Did well there, as did Nakata. Germany very different from Japan too and Kagawa was very successful. Scotland - Nakamura/ Kyogo....

Really don't understand your point

Poor guy. He spent all summer thinking he was coming to us only to be shunted off to them lot because we chose someone else.

I can already see Arteta playing him in couple of cup games and then loaning him somewhere in January.

Never thought this guy was a RB and probably was a CB signing. I’ll be disappointed if they sign him as that happened in a FM save and he’s was awesome for them…….

Funny you should say that, earlier this afternoon one of the Sky Transfer Clown’s was sitting there reading ‘info he’d just received’ off his phone and it was that Arsenal were in for Tomiyasu,he then said that he wasn’t too sure how that helps Arsenal as no one was too sure whether he was a CB or RB….
Did make me chuckle!

Having watched Arsenal get absolutely dismantled by City the signing of Tomiyasu will improve them. Apart from Tierney their back line were atrocious, long May it last.

I get the feeling he was an opportunistic purchase after we decided to not go through with it.

They're patting themselves on the back for stealing him from under our noses but the reality (to anybody with eyes) is that we had a choice between him and Emerson, we made the choice and they took the other player.
