Tin foil hat time: Atalanta are really keen on Tomiyasu but seems we turned his head. Wonder if we are using Tomiyasu as leverage to get a better deal for Romero and we’ll then step back to let Atalanta go for him...

The fact he's willing to say 'he's tempted by the Premier League' tells me this one is likely to get done. Sounds like it's merely a matter of ironing out the details, assuming another PL club doesn't get involved.
Between the lines, a bigger offer from another club incoming. Oh well.

Really freaks me out that, even though I'm wearing my tin foil hat, you still know I'm wearing it! How do you do that?

That was my thinking too. ..."let us have Romero, and you have a free pass to Tomiyasu"

Ali G said hard to see deal being announced anytime soon because of Olympics and isolation?

BOLOGNA IN NO RUSH TO SELL SPURS TARGET
Bologna
sporting director Riccardo Bigon has warned Tottenham that they are in no rush to sell defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and other clubs are interested.
Sky Sports News reported earlier this month that Spurs were in talks with Bologna for the Japan international, who is currently on international duty at the Olympics, and had seen an offer knocked back.
Bigon told Sky in Italy: "When the Premier League comes knocking, it's clearly very tough for a player to be indifferent to it. We want to wait until the conditions are favourable both for us and for the player.
“At least three Serie A clubs have made moves and inquired about him, and now they are monitoring the situation to understand what will happen. The player is at the Olympics at the moment, so there's no rush to close any deal."

Italian media reporting we aren't willing to meet the asking price. Thought ITK suggested this was done

Levy said he liked Paritici as he was a tough negotiator. If Bologna would not come down towards the price we wanted to pay, and Paratici can line up players like Romero from Atalanta, then maybe Tomisyasu will be one of the multiple deals that get lined up but never completed. Maybe Tomiyasu was even part of a cunning plan to get Atalanta to the table over Romero?

I think there are going to be a lot of "reports" on this deal to get clicks but end of the day it will be wrapped up soon after the olympics.
