Harvey White showed he is better LWB than Sessegnon today. Even has a good cross on him
Sess has to step up this season, else he is a goner by next
Bit knee-jerk from a friendly?

Sessegnon has shown himself really well against the top teams in league last season, plus he put in a couple of nice crosses first half.

Also don’t forget he didn’t have Kane and Son to play off first half, and they make everyone better.

Kane & Son as usual best
Hojberg, Dier, Skipp had a strong game
Sanchez, Lucas, Sess - meh games
Gil, Sarr,Tanganga,Romero - ok
Richarlison - held up the ball , no linkup play first 45 but he did linkup well when Son , Kane came on.
White - good value in LWB for the minutes he played

Overall, decent game - K-league goals were actually very good.
At the very least, this is a fitness test which all players passed with out injuries.

Sevilla game will tell us a lot more than this.

Its not knee jerk, when my assessment is for todays game.
Reguillon vs Sess -gap wasnt that much. Still Reggie is shown the door. Sess has to do well this season given he is being trusted - thats all I am saying

Was happy with what I saw from Sarr. Looked technically proficient and had some nice progressive passes today. Really want to see a 352 formation as some point in the pre-season.

Yeah took me a while to work out as Doherty shifted over to right.

Checked White on transfermrket and he’s left footed and can also play left back, which I didn’t know before!

I thought he looked good out there and also played a delicious ball to Sonny.

The boy has a wand of a left foot.

From memory this seemed a lot more competitive than previous seasons friendlies, big crowd probably helped.
How many tickets sold for Saturday I wonder ?

It won't. Your preceding comment is spot on. This is all about fitness and getting minutes in the tank individually. The line-ups will be a mixture of players, regardless of 'pecking order' for the start of the season.

Results and individual performances are pretty irrelevant. I remember watching us hammer Roma 5-0 then promptly go on to gain 2 points from the first 8 games.

Yeah - I could see him stick with the club, at least until January. Let Conte's fitness guys get him into a strength routine, and adapt to England in general.

I thought hs showed well for the ball, and had a good understanding of what he should be doing - other than the whole "wall" incident.

Conte will be fuming at the goals conceded. Unmarked header (albeit well taken), two players pulling out to the edge of the area - both free in acres of space, and the vanishing wall!

I do think individual performances matters ,especially players who are on fringes. More they show what they got , more minutes they will get in preseason to impress.
Lets not forget Skipp got a role in regular squad by performing in these preseasons.

Scores doesnt matter - performances certainly does for fringe players

I couldn’t properly watch it but whenever I managed to have a look I didn’t see any of the new boys except Richarlison? I know Leglet didn’t travel but I didn’t see Perisic or Bissouma

Good fun that.(Only caught the second half) Kane looks as sharp as you'd hope after a late end to the season. Son gets his shooting boots on via a couple of absolute bungs from TKL. Richarlison impressed me with his hold up play; at least three of those challenges on him in the 2nd half brings a free kick, and one a red card. Obviously he'll link up better as pre-season goes on.

Lucas was Lucas. Sarr looked a little lost, but that's understandable given it's his first game. I imagine another loan somewhere for him.

Apparantly Gil caught the eye a bit in the first half which is encouraging.

So all in all, it keeps the positive vibes. Hopefully a maiden goal for Richarlison next time out.
