I love Winks, think he could have been a great player for us but he looks as if injury means we simply can't rely on him being available at any point and we need to replace him. Sounds tough but we will have to face up to it.

Blimey, doesn't sound good for Winks at all.

Minimum 2 new CM's needed this summer. I won't hold my breath though.

Lloris
Sanchez Toby Jan
Tripper Wanyama Sissoko/Dier Rose
Dele Eriksen
Lucas

Subs: Gazza, Foyth, KWP, Sissoko/Dier, Davies, Llorente & anyone with two working legs!

Llorente has got to be benched for this otherwise we'll be playing right into Ajax's hands. They'll have a go but will be wary with a trio of Dele, Eriksen and Moura on the break. They'll be rubbing their hands together if Fernando starts though.

I think Llorente is the man for this game. I think he’ll bring Moura, Dele and Eriksen into play. I think Trips will get two good crosses in all night, and the big fella will nod one of them in at the far post.

Id leave Llorente on the bench but sub him for Rose and move to flat back 4 for the last 30 mins.

Sad but true. I really think we need to sign 2 CMs this summer. Someone more forward thinking (Grealish?) and a metronomic player like Winks. We haven't got anyone like him so when he's out we sorely miss him. With these injury issues we'd be better to keep him as a squad player rather than someone we rely on week in week out.

As for Ajax, I suspect we'll start Llorente and play some variant of the diamond with him and Lucas up top. I'm a bit worried, though. I think we might be better off packing the midfield and defence with giant bastards and looking to frustrate them. Their interplay is brilliant but they don't really have a strong focal point up front and if we keep things tight we can nullify their strengths and hit them on the break with runs from Sissoko and Lucas. Not the Tottenham way but with our injuries I reckon it's our best bet. If we take the game to them I fear we'll get picked off like Madrid and Juve were.

Llorente has been playing better in champions league, wouldn't be against starting him, especially without Son, we lack attacking options.

as a sub, yeah...starter, no...but it's not like we have a lot of options unfortunately...

I just wish we at least manage to draw...without concede an away goal...that would be good enough for us...

I really can't see us scoring with the players we have available...

Yep! Would rather play with the extra holding player if it means Llorente doesn’t start. We might have more attacking players on the pitch if he does play but that doesn’t mean we’ll score more goals. What we need is to be able to move the ball quickly and be fluid.
Lucas simply has to target Blind with his pace, try to isolate him.

Got a ticket in my basket for tomorrow but it says under important ticket information 'Staff'.

What the hell is that supposed to mean? Can I still buy it? Surely they can't re sell their tickets?

Assuming none of our injured players are back :

Lloris
Sanchez Alderweireld Vertonghen
Trippier Wanyama Eriksen Dele Rose
Llorente Moura

If Sissoko is fit

Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Sissoko Wanyama
Moura Dele Eriksen
Llorente

Just edited this after watching press conf. Where Poch said Winks definitely out, maybe Sissoko back.
So excited with the champions league games upon us.
If Poch stays and Levy backs him with the money to bring in the best young commited players worldwide
we will get used to having the champion and premiership titles to entertain us every year.
Beating Ajax is not a given, although Spurs will bust a gut to turn them over.
If Spurs do not get through, fingers crossed they will.
I put it on record now that what ever happens i will congratulate our team on the joy they give us week in week out.
They have had a grueling year going all the way back to the June world cup, reaching the semi final.

Whilst watching the London marathon i saw so many runners who had given everything to reach the
finishing line and their legs had gone and still carried on.
This is how many of our players are feeling now.
I hope they do not bring Kane back for the final if we get there,he should rest until next season not be
playing for England and pre season friendlies.

All of you that are lucky enough to have tickets for semi final raise the roof for our great team and coach.

Can someone clarify for me why Rose is being mentioned in projected line ups when he was booked in both legs against City ? isn't he suspended ?

Yeah, having seen our Ajax played out from the back, and transitioned the ball when they won it against Juventus, I think we need as many mobile players in our attacking third as possible to press the fuck out of them. it's actually why I was hoping Lamela would be fit for this as I thought he would have been perfect for this game.

They'll play far too easily around Llorente, and even with the three at the back Trippier and Rose effectively play as midfielders anyway, so we don't lose too much on the attacking end.
