Why would we play the first team in the ECL

This thread was full of "who cares?" just a few short hours ago but now it's a hot topic. That's Conte for you! The atmosphere is going to be something else now and a few that were thinking of not going will now want to be there for Conte's first match in charge.
I think Conte will go full strength, close to the starting line up v Newcastle but maybe with a third CB (Sanchez) in and PEH or Skipp out.

Why would we play the first team in the ECL

To smash four or five against them and regain some confidence. To show the new manager some intent. To play and train for their futures starting today.

Doing this A and B team disrupt our team. Better to rotate one or two all the time, trust everyone in the squad throw out those you don't. A and B line ups has let us down for 15 years. Most likely a big reason why we don't have a trophy. As mediocre trash send us out of knock out phases.

I agree. Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Lucas or Bergwijn in that converted RWB role at some point with Conte. Both would have their own strengths/weaknesses in that role. Lucas can go inside and out at pace from that position. He’ll obviously have to work on his crossing/distribution from wide positions but still…

Could also see Emerson as the RCB in a back three playing off the WB. Plenty of pace and opportunity for interchange and linkup play down that right side. Also, got recovery pace when we need that for defensive transitions.

Think Conte’s going to shake everything up thankfully. There’ll be lots of surprises along the way.

Maybe… but I think Conte likes a ball-player at 6 - which Hojbjerg isn’t - and the more industrious lads further forward.

Tifo IRL thought he would be perfect for that role ala. Brozovic for Inter. They also had that team @gavspur just posted.
