Could have been told to say that

Who knows, just wish Levy would sort it all out, I'm getting sick of hearing about all the speculation about how this manager isn't coming and how this manager is available etc. , it's tedious.

who wants (potentially)bad news? No? Well, tough titties Tottenham!

Sorry :(

I'm the biggest pessimist in the world and I know that means nothing, that's just the standard line isn't it? "I'm very happy where I am, I'm not actively looking for anything but if an interesting club came along I'd listen" basically i.e. please give me the Spurs job.

Yeah I see nothing in those quotes that should even change any of our hopes, much less our expectations. Wouldn't be surprised if Levy & Co don't say another word to de Boer until after the end of season meeting with Sherwood.

Yes but as it has already been established, de Boer is as honest as the day is long

I wonder if Clubs put out little nuggets if information or rumours to gauge how supporters feel. I wonder if there are any Spurs reps trawling this forum to see who we want?
Anyway as I stated earlier, I suspect Spurs have a few candidates in mind FDB is just one of them.

I believe it's to do with constructive dismissal, which would make his payoff substantially larger. So best we cut ties when the season has ended then pursue someone like FDB.

Oh ok, football is daft I'd say TS has constructed his own dismissal!

We need De Boer badly. Levy needs to do whatever it takes to get this deal done in the next few weeks. Otherwise, we'll risk our top players openly searching for moves away from the club, and given that this is a World Cup year and Levy always sells our best players late in a window, we'll be in deep shit. Aston Villa sold their best players in the last World Cup year after several 6th place finishes, and they've been free falling as a club ever since. We shouldn't be so arrogant as to think that fate couldn't be ours if Levy doesn't hire a manager like De Boer and keep our best players at the club.

Have you read the @SpursOfficial Twitter account?
Some of the wind ups they put on there........either a Gooner writing it, or deliberate attempt to gauge opinion. Which is generally always bad.

He has one year left at ajax
this is a game
I'm just hoping it's not a game where FDB gets a better Ajax contract & money to spend on new players?! I'm not feeling as upbeat as I was on Friday about his (possible) arrival. However, there's always the hope that he'd sign for us during the World Cup; though I'd expect - like any big business - that Levy would wish to attract as much focus & exposure for brand Spurs as possible... And I do believe we put out nuggets of info here and there to heighten interest, gauge opinion etc.. Although often contrary to our experience Enic aren't daft..(n)

That's not true - firstly I don't see how he could claim constructive dismissal based upon media reports, secondly, even if he tried constructive dismissal is a bugger to prove and win (Tim would have to prove he was being treated unfairly in a manner that was of detriment to him and was an attempt to force him to resign.) Thirdly, to claim constructive dismissal Tim would have to resign, moreover he would have to have resigned as soon as the element he is claiming would be unfair occurred. Fourthly, the club could legitimately claim that they fully intend to retain his employment, albeit in a different capacity (i.e he would return to his previous role on his current salary). Fifthy, the nature of football contracts mean that any payout is limited to the value of the contract - so he would be fighting for one years wages - the only way it is worth his while pursuing this route is if he had a long term contract and felt the chances of an acceptable payoff were low. With someone like Moyes, on a six year contract he could have dug his heals in and taken action to force the club to pay the full value of the contract - which is why negotiated payoffs are common in these situations, clubs don't want to pay the full value of a long term contract and the manager would want to get a fair deal that wouldn't impact upon his future employability.

Were Tim to go I would fully expect his contract to be paid off in full (it's only a year) without any argument, therefore he could only claim constructive dismissal if he were able to prove that the clubs actions were to force him to resign and forego the value of his contract. Even if he did, and won he wouldn't get any more than the value of the contract, and if he lost he would lose any right to the value of the contract and would leave with nothing (and a hefty legal bill to boot).

De Boer is now covering himself I reckon in case he doesn't get appointed.

If we did give him the job I can imagine him then turning around and saying 'yes, I did say I had no intention to leave Ajax but once I spoke to Spurs they made me an unbelievable offer and great project to work on that I just couldn't say no to . . . .ya da ya da ya da'

I still don't see the point in why we publicly denied we had spoken to him when it is obvious we had.

Think this one requires a little patience, let's wait till the end of the season.
