I would also like two other Swiss players Rodriguez and Xhaka. Shouldn't be too expensive either. Although Wolfsburg don't need money.
I would like two others too, except my two is Rodriguez and Schar. Switzerland have some quality young players and it will be interesting to see how they go in the WC.

I like how he seems to have identified Spurs as his preferred choice - he is starting to win me over but Rafa is still my number 1.

Some of their performances have been poor but some have been very good.

Drew with Milan
Drew with Man City
Beat Man Utd
Drew with Lyon
Beat Dinamo Zagreb

I know the below were at home but was outside the dutch league (which I think is what you meant).

Beat Barcelona despite only having 10 men for 40 odd mins.
Beat Man City
Beat Dinamo Zagreb
Drew with Lyon
Beat Steau
Beat Celtic Home

In fact if you look at their loses, it's only the home and away against Salzburg, Away to Celtic and away to Steau (who also beat Chelsea at home in the next round with Benitez in charge) that aren't loses you would expect and that we wouldn't fair any better with our superior players.

Lost to Real Madrid Home and Away (twice)
Lost to Man Utd Home
Lost to Dortmund Home and Away (the year they made the final)
Lost to Steau Away
Lost to Celtic Away
Lost to Barcelona Away
Lost to Salzburg Home and Away

Also, look at the difference in quality of the players in the line ups against the top tier teams they played (in matches they won and lost) and you see the difference is immense.

I must admit the loses to the big teams shouldn't go against him, but compared to his holland record it's still well below that standard. Yes he has performed well domestically but IMO the EPL is tough on so many levels. You have teams that play on so many levels. That you need to adapt your own style of play to beat them. I'm not saying I'm against giving him a chance just that their are pros and cons to all our potential new managers. IMO premier league experience is a huge positive thing that needs to be given it's place.

I was also counting 4 straight league titles for the first time in their history. I know it's Ajax but other managers have done a lot worse there.

Not taking what he has done as granted but a manager tested in 1 club that loves him isn't a guarantee.

If we give Pochettino the job on footballing basis I'm fine with it but if we don't give it to FDB because he's 'upset the board' it's just daft. If they think he's the best candidate for the job - give him the job. We look and sound like such amateurs at times.

No managers's a guarantee (especially for us) I'm just looking for the best indicators. I like other aspects of his philosophy and tenure at Ajax, but being a manager who knows how to get results and win leagues isn't a bad trait either, certainly not one for the detriment column.

He also beat a AC Milan team that just won the title that season in 2010, the same season we beat them. That team had Pirlo, Ibrahimovic, Robinho, Seedorf and Ronaldinho.

I suspect people's opinions on Holland being a joke league might change during the world cup when the Dutch do well and people see that the majority of their squad is made up of players playing in Holland.

Well said, m8.

I think it's based on strikers scoring for fun there then failing in the PL quite often. Think Bruno Alves, Kezman etc.

Yeah, how about you think of Van Persie, Van Nistelrooy, Suarez, etc!?!? lol
And just an FYI, last I checked Bruno Alves was a central defender, not a striker.
For someone who claims that "we don't know our asses from our elbows", you sure sound like you don't know much either. ;)

It's not fair to compare that though for one you have to look at the difference between the class of players he has at Ajax and what he was facing in the Champions League. Between our players and any of the top 4 there is only a minor difference in comparison.

Take their 10 man win against Barcelona, look at the two line ups. I don't think any of the Ajax team would get into our first 11.

Ajax: Cilessen, van Rhijn,Veltman, Moisander, Boilesen, Blind, Serero, Klaassen, Schone, Fischer, Hoesen.
Barcelona: Pinto, Puyol, Pique, Mascherano, Montoya, Song, Iniesta, Xavi, Pedro, Neymar, Csec
