Gio is also historically unreliable. He’ll also be playing his first competitive game for us in 18 months this weekend. He’s looked good in pre-season but I’d say he’s very much still in the expendable camp. Also think Deki could be suited to that advanced 8 role so swapping Gio out for a wide forward isn’t totally non-sensical.

Is this ITK? Where have you seen he wants out?

Yes he may have been disappointed at not playing a part in the first two games but it's a long season ahead and there will be plenty of chances for him. Maybe even tomorrow considering Maddison had a suspected injury after the United game?

From the talk in preseason Gio seemed happy, he was playing well, Ange talked highly of him, and he even helped convince Veliz to come to us!

Coming back to WLB's ITK this morning, I would hope there's a place for Gio in our squad and that we don't use him as a makeweight for Fati. You just know that if we wanted to buy a player of Gio's quality in today's market we would be asked for something like 60-70M, and yet because he hasn't featured much for Spurs and because all the other teams outside the PL and Saudi are skint we would only be offered a tiny fraction of that fee. Let's keep Gio and do everything to move on PEH and Ndombele.
would you honestly be surprised if he'd rather be a squad player at Barcelona and play CL football than stay with us? I'd be surprised if he wasn't pushing hard for that to happen tbh, if it's a legit great opportnity for him.

For all of the injury concerns with Fati, he literally played the his highest number of games in one season last year. Seems like his injury issue is more it's affected his trajectory and style more than it has affected his day to day etc...

If that means he's gone from 'potential to be best in the world' to 'potential to be really really good' (which it seems like) then I'm still on board with this ITK link and possible transfer.

If Fati can pass a medical and get insured, then on top of the number of games he was available for last season, I’d say the club will know what they are doing.

Of course, that wouldn’t be as reliable as the opinions of all the doctors on here but that’s life I guess.

There won’t be any issues with him getting insured. I work in medical insurance for premier league football clubs etc. medical history is disregarded on these top level sports schemes or they will be part of the premier league trust

Is that the "Irish mafia" that Tyson Fury has been linked with?
I know this is not the thread for this, so apologies to mods, but there is zero facts to link Parrott with the Kinehan Cartel, other than he comes from the same area. I'm from the same area as Robbie Keane, we're not mates. Its a bit unfair on the lad to assume these ties. Hope he does well at Excelsior. Another Irish lad went there for a bit, David Connolly and did okay, think they have ties to Feyenoord.

Surprising to say the least. Doesn't sound the least bit like Insurance company practices, but I obviously take your word for it.

People are making out like Lo Celso is the second coming of Gascoigne.

He's shown flashes of brilliance in pre-season, but we're still yet to see a consistent level of performance from him in 4 years.

Why would he also want to be a rotation option at Spurs over Barca? It's quite clear that Maddison is first choice.

I'd be more than happy to keep him, but I don't think he's as unsellable as other people think.

Has Fati, at any point, even hinted that he's willing to leave Barca minnows for the mighty Hotspurs of Tottingham?

Don't like Fatis main position is LW. Absolutely no need to get someone for this side with Son, Solomon, Perisic and even Richy able to play there.

2 disasters then. 1 letting Gio go and 2 signing Fati who is a monumental injury risk and doesn't really fit the profile of winger we need anyway.
I appreciate Gio has rekindled some affection pre season but he's obviously not a first eleven selection so I really don't think letting him go would be a disaster.
Personally I think Barca want to exchange Fati and Gio more than we do so I guess it would come down to if we want it enough.

I think Fati would be worth the gamble. Ideally wouldn't want to trade Lo Celso but if it was a straight swap it's worth considering, maybe an extra £10m or so on top max.

If we do that deal, it could also trigger a chain of events that would allow Atletico to pay up for PEH. And if that happens, with Devine and probably Ndombele going I think we'll look for another number 8. I wouldn't be surprised to see us move for Hatate. Either that or we move Kulusevski there and that subsequently makes room for Brennan Johnson.

Pretty sure he has posted photos with them on his own social media

We would still need a backup/rotation option for Maddison though. This system needs a playmaker surely?

@bc205 + @HarryTed14
You can rate my post as off topic all day long but as an Irishman who lived in England for 58 years and now back in my homeland I will not let incorrect assumptions about "the IRA" being portrayed on this forum.
There is a Good Friday agreement in place and has been for 25 years. Ignorance is not healthy.
It was chatter about Troy Parrott and therefore valid in that sense.
No assumptions needed on the IRA. Terris

can’t believe I’m coming into this forum to see mention of the IRA. I seen a man killed in cold blood by that organisation when I was 13 years old and they also took us off our school bus as kids fully armed with guns causing untold trauma to many in their later life . Let’s stick to football on this forum .

He’s got a very important part of his knee missing. He’s busted. They wouldn’t be selling him otherwise.
I can't remember where I watched the video. But there were some medical experts saying the fact his dribbling and ability to beat players has waned is more down to the psychological as opposed to the physical aspect. In that case, age is on his side and he might learn to get over it eventually and build confidence in his legs. The fact he played a fair amount last season is encouraging in that regard. Also, there are other facets to his game and he's an intelligent player. As long as he remains off the treatment table, if he doesn't end up getting that explosiveness back I still don't think he would completely flop here.

You don't think that will get picked up on the medical?
A player can pass a medical without being at the peak of fitness. Fati is a winger who relied on explosive bursts of pace. He just hasn’t been doing that since his injury. He’s not the same player as when everyone was salivating over him a few years ago.

Perhaps read @Ghost Hardware post above - he's not the same player post ruptured meniscus.

We would be coveting him on reputation alone and smacks once again at this twilight of the transfer window of opportunism rather than what's required to aid Ange in his efforts and who can be accommodated best for his system.
No disrespect intended to @Ghost Hardware who is a good poster but..... 🤗
Ima trust our managers judgement on this if true gio rarely if ever plays for us anyway.
you have to buy in to what The manager wants if he wants fati skinny or obeseie then ok I might not agree but I'm not going to lose my shit over it.
It's that back the feckin manager but only if I like who he wants thing again otherwise 👍
