At this point, Atletico Madrid needs extra funds to meet Tottenham's valuation for the Pierre transfer. They've suggested Felix to Tottenham, but Felix prefers Barcelona. Notably, Tottenham has had a longstanding interest in felix.
Ange emphasises his preference for players who truly desire to join the team.

Very interesting. I wonder if 'preferring Barca' means 'rejecting Tottenham'...because if it doesn't, that would definitely be an interesting addition. I'm sure many players would (in a perfect world) prefer Barca or Real - I'm sure Maddison would too. Doesn't mean that they won't be professional when they come.

Thanks WLB, I would dodge Felix as he doesn’t feel like a good fit for ST in our system which is limited build up, pin the strikers back and be a general fox in the box. Good player though.

Should be an interesting last few weeks! Feels like a ST will be coming in, and then others will be dependent on transfers out: CM (Hojbjerg dependent) and CB (Tanganga + Dier or Sanchez).

Lloris/Tanganga/Spence/Reguilon are certain to go either on permanent or loan imo. Ndombele hopefully will prefer Turkey rather than not playing all year, maybe a subsidised French loan will have to do there.

To be fair, i'd imagine every player in our squad would rather be at Barca then Spurs :ROFLMAO:

These are starting to read like press briefings. Can't you just hammer the keyboard with sausage fingers like Herc does? :p

To add more context to the latest update the feeling I’m getting is that it seems more like a scenario where they're aware of our significant financial capacity and are attempting to generate profits. They're aiming to secure a player they desire by offloading Felix, who currently has a strained relationship with them. They might be leveraging our prior interest in Felix to their advantage. It's definitely an intricate situation.

Ange does have a favorable view of him and believes he could fit into the team. However, Ange wants to ensure that the player is also eager for the move. It's worth noting that he wasn't initially seen as a target this transfer window, but circumstances have created opportunities.

Really liked the bit that said "Ange emphasises his preference for players who truly desire to join the team." and think this is absolutely key.

We need total commitment to make the strategy work, anyone half arsing it will bring the whole group downward.

Felix is apparently deadset on Barca and is willing to wait until the end of the window in order to push through a loan move when Atletico gets desperate to offload him.

I do think he'd be a quality addition for us though - could we get a Felix thread mods? :)

Also it's not just Felix wants Barca he's practically falling over himself for them. And Barca want him, but need to get rid of Fati first. They were trying to do a swap, but Atletico don't want Fati

Felix has 'deadline day' written all over him
With a sprinkling of "we tried".

I'm so bored of these sagas which start off unrealistic, then they reel you in as soon a few respected journo's confirm it, and then ultimately end in disappointment. We get 1 every summer transfer window it seems.

Felix absolutely smacks of an opportunistic, last minute, Levy special which is what I fear our remaining transfer policy will resemble looking for perceived bargain deals instead of persevering with long standing scouted targets and/or recommendations from our team, be it Gabbanini/Paratici et al.

No other club with a coherent recruitment strategy would do the same.
