Er...

Bale wasn't the only player who left.

Lamela-Bale
Paulinho-Parker
Capoue-Huddlestone
Chadli-Dempsey
Chiriches-Caulker
Soldado in advance of Defoe and maybe long lost replacement for Pav

Eriksen

Not so crazy huh?

Still do not feel that we needed seven in an off season. Stupid, and unequalled at the level of football that Spurs are at.

Chel$ea and Citeh 9can throw eighty odd million at players that may fail, we simply cannot. A true opportunity was missed.

With the lack of outgoing ITK does anyone else think we might end up in trouble and maybe even get Levy'd on deadline day because we have to shift a few?

Clearly we want at least 2 in, and with a bloated squad anyway, if I was a mid table team I'd be looking forward to us desperately trying to free up a shirt by getting rid of Dawson et al on deadline day

YEDLIN MOVE AGREED

Posted by Tottenham Hotspur on 13 August 2014 - 20:30

We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Seattle Sounders for the transfer of United States international right-back DeAndre Yedlin.

DeAndre has signed a four-year contract and will remain with Sounders before joining us ahead of the 2015/16 season.

Capped seven times by the US, DeAndre caught the eye with his performances at this summer's World Cup. Born in Seattle, he joined Sounders' Academy in 2010-11 and became their first home-grown player when he signed in January, 2013.

The 21-year-old made it into the MLS All-Star Team in his first season last year - the first 'rookie' to do so in the MLS since 2005 - and earned the honour again this season for the recent MLS All-Star game against Bayern Munich.

DeAndre has now played 52 times for the Sounders in all competitions and lined-up against us in our 3-3 friendly draw at CenturyLink Field on July 19, the first match of this summer's Tour of North America.

The situation we find ourselves in regarding squad size is self inflicted.

Let me ask members this. If Wiltshire was sold for eighty odd million would Wenger have gone out and blown the proceeds in four weeks on seven players or waited until the right quality came along?

The Bale money (with the exception of two players) was allowed to be thrown down the shitter.

Now we find ourselves stuck with deadwood. You would have thought that Levy would have learned a little from the Bentley and Hutton fiasco, then again......

Not to mention 4 different managers in the last few years.

Constant change is always going to leave a bloated squad, especially as we now find ourselves in the position where we have a lot of players on reasonably high wages who are not good enough for the top teams to be interested in, but too good ( and too higher earners ) for the middle of the road teams.

Just to keep it vaguely ITK... :cautious:

The kid's standing there in broad daylight at the training ground with a Spurs shirt and... we got no fuzzy photos from the security cameras, no airport photos, no taxi driver ITK. Most if not all landed through the press.

Where was dat ITK on this kid, huh?

Agree, but some of the press did say he had a fitness test etc over here on Friday. Quite conceivable he was wandering around our training ground and no one knew who the hell he was....
