Seeing as I work from home, I have SSN on a minimum of 25 hours a day and fiddle with myself a bit too often,
but having given great thought as to what I could say in my very first post on this crazy 'ole site,
all I could come up with was that Dharmesh Sheth scares me shitless, there's "Something of the night" about him,
but if anything comes across Kirsty Gallagher, sorry mean't the yellow breaking news tab, I'll keep you posted.

You're right, how the fuck could Redknapp be expected to defend a 10 point lead when he only had Adebayor, VDV, Defoe and Saha as striking options ?

Doesnt have much to do with what he said. People where having a go at redknapp for lack of signings. Saying he couldn't make his mind up, only bought players he knows, couldn't identify young talent in other leagues etc. Now we supposedly got the antithesis of that, still nothing. Where's the young talent from the Brazilian leagues that he spent months scouting? we seem to have our blinkers on Moutinho who AVB knows very well but Levy doesn't seem keen. Seems pretty similar to Redknapp's time here to me, which people blamed Harry for.

It's early days for AVB though. And the ITK's have suggested that we did bid for Oscar but Chelsea outbid us.

Do we know who we expecting to be announced today? Is it Ade, or Lloris?

What's the squad registration deadline for Saturday games, Friday lunchtime? Fingers crossed something is done before then.

I reckon Levy has written off the Newcastle game, or is willing to rely on Defoe as our lone striker against them...which amounts to the same thing.

Adebayor being confirmed today won't really come as anything but slight relief - Signing a player you already essentially had doesn't really create the same buzz.

If you had offered me Adebayor just after we signed Sigurdsson and Vertonghen I would of laughed in your face - For I was full of false, naive hope... Gone were the days of last minute, deadline deals etc. etc.

I felt we could (still can!) get better than Adebayor; although he helped us a lot last season it isn't unknown for his commitment to tail off mid contract/his drifting into the channels/first touch/and lack of prolific scoring frustrated me.

You have see it from Levy's point of view; if he brings in Adebayor that IS our no 9, our signing for the window in that position (I really hope I'm wrong). Levy has always been a shrewd businessman; there is no logic in him suddenly breaking the bank and singing Ade and LD/Llorente.

More likely than not we will get in Ade - The Modric saga will go to the wire and Levy will decide not to panic sell - Thus meaning the Lloris deal doesn't go through.

I started off with such optimisim but even the ITK has started to become almost guessing games seemingly; how many times has it been tomorrow for that big announcement?

Still on the plus side two class signings have been bought in and it's good to see we haven't YET panic bought a donkey.

Me to, hasn't learnt our lesson from last year. One point out of first 2 = 3rd place

Yes that's when the season was lost...

I do agree though that it is more than frustrating that we still haven't signed a striker. I just don't know how the Newcastle game will go, they are always tough to judge. We could sign a striker and still lose or we could sign nobody and still get a result there. I'm certainly not ready to write it off before we even go there, not sure their defence can play to the same level as last year.

One good thing about signing Ade late is saving 3 weeks wages.
I agree, City have had to pay his wages the last few weeks and we've not had to put our hand in our pocket yet.
Have we really needed him pre-season? Or is Newcastle more important?

Yes, we derperately need a striker to get us through the season, but surely, even as we are, we'd have enough quality and threat to see off (or at least have a go at) a decent Newcastle side.

No will be same old, look okay but no final product, with Newcastle winning via shit lucky offside goal.

Ah, fresh ITK.

I found it in the Twitter thread...

Who: Grey Fox
When: 13th August
Where: SC

JJ might just have been wrong on this one, enquiries definitely made [for M'Vila]. I will also lay my head on the block and say we get a striker in, other than Ade this week. :sneaky:
