Interesting that Trix is saying its up to Villarreal softening their stance and JJ saying the hold up is neither with Villarreal or us.

However I guess us/Villarreal trying to get the agent/River to sacrifice some of their cut to Villarreal would fit both sources. Just somewhat sneaky from JJ if true, as even if the hold up is with the agent/River its only really because us/Villarreal won't budge from our stance.

Doesn't sound like it will be done in a hurry though, Villarreal seem to be quite happy to stall on this one, win-win for them really...

I think Villarreal's chances of signing River Plate players in the future was ended long ago. The two are in dispute over this and other transfers and it's been taken to court.

Forgot those two coming any kind of compromise. It's the agent we need to be working on. He's getting 30/35%. Surely we can ask him to give that up for Villarreal but regain it in some sort of signing on fee and rewards linked to the contract?

All the ITK suggests that we've lodged bids of around £17m for both Musacchio and Schneiderlin, which the clubs would be happy to accept in normal circumstances, yet the individual circumstances of each deal means an agreement hasn't been reached yet with either club. Ie, Spurs aren't being tight in any way, yet you just know Levy will be blamed if the transfers don't go through. Patience is key here, we can't just throw £30m at Villarreal and Southampton to get them done quickly.

Agreed but at the same time we don't want the scum to come in and trump us for an extra two million as it gets closer to deadline day and they haven't signed anyone.

I don't think River have a say in the matter. They will rightly demand and get their 35% and can't force Villa to keep a player. It seems Villareal are trying to arm wrestle the agents into taking a lesser percentage.

Whatever the reasons for the holdups are, I think there's sometimes a tendency to forget it's down to the buyer to persuade the seller to sell, particularly when they don't want to.

Not one to critique but surely we want a little more stoof not a little less, as Stoof = Stamp = Signing!!!
