Nothing much happened over the weekend, the speculation continued, bookmakers favourites came and went and a few shit cryptics. There. All summed up for you as Daniel Levy starts to play..............The Usual Suspects!

THE SCENE: A Police line-up room in the copshop on Tottenham High Road. Several high profile managers are lined up and behind a one way window stands Daniel Levy. On a box, so that he can see.

Someone hands the first in the line a piece of paper and a voice over the intercom says 'No1, step forward and read what is written on the piece of paper'

David Moyes steps forward........'Och, he's a tarrifffek playerrrr, a top top lad' and steps back

AVB steps forward, then crouches down low and says 'He is a triffic player top top lad' before standing back and up returning to his place in the line

Robert Martinez steps forward............'This is a wonderful kloop and i'd like to talk about it'.......A voice breaks in.....'stick to the piece of paper No3' So Martinez shrugs........'Triffic, top top player'

Laurent Blanc is next............'superbe garçon meilleur joueur'........the voice breaks in. 'In English please'......Blanc looks up, quizically, 'Que?'.........The voice repeats..........'In English please'. Blanc shrugs, terrifique player, top lad'

The others start giggling. Daniel Levy steps down from the box. 'I've seen enough now' and leaves. Who did he choose?

We're all waiting to find out.

That's your lot for this morning. Other stuff beckons.

Interesting news from Jacob about Vertonghen. A bit worrying that someone high up at Ajax is choosing not to sign off the deal - assuming Jacob's info is legit. Hasn't he got a dodgy rep or am I thinking of someone else?

Presumably just some dickhead Director showing off his authority. "They're not signing him until I agree to it", type shite.

But it looks like he's still trying to influence his successor (bet he'd love Moyes) and/or make sure they are set up for an uphill battle at the start. It's very much in the interests of Redknapp to see us screw up badly now, so he'll do all he can to ensure that. There's no magnanimity in defeat/affection for us from Redknapp.

 so if the new man fails that is Redknapps fault aswell!? Why would it be in his interest to see us fail? He has gone, let it go...you can stop the campaign now...

I don't know why any ITK about Vertonghen means anything right now.
There was loads before, all of it said 'it's happening' or 'he's coming for the club not for Redknapp' or similar.
There has been zero ITK or media reports suggesting he's going anywhere else, his agent keeps saying he's coming, he himself seems to think he's coming.
The only thing not to happen is that we've not announced it, but then again it's not even July 1st.

I'd bet my last bean y'know: he's coming! Enough with the paranoia!

I expect a decision will be made before the end of the month, to give the new chap some time before the lads jet off on N american tour etc. Sherwood cant do it all on his own.

But is continuing to pay Vert's wages, just to prove a point? Not sure Ajaz is the type of club that acts like that or can afford to.

Loads of them are so concerned....aww, poor Tottenham.

As if they give a fuck about Spurs and the fact they're so open about it makes you wonder if they're concerned or worried (more like)

Its just laziness in the extreme to associate AVB with complete and utter failure because of the Chelsea job.

Don't usually agree with Dan, but it would really make HR look good if we did fail with our new manager. We have had the "2 points from 8" thrust at us for the last 4 years (when up until then we were hardly relegation fodder year on year under Jol) can you imagine what the press will be like if we are mid table at Christmas after sacking Sir Harry after gtting us 4th.

HR likes HR to look good whatever, you cant blame him and i do thank him for what he did, but i dont think he holds any great affection for the club (or ever did) and it will only help to make him look better if we fail when we are not under his leadership.

If we fail even slightly next season, his mates in the press will have a field day. I hope DL has very broad shoulders.

Ajax changed their Board of Directors last week - three Directors appointed and agreed to appoint a CEO. Seems to have been a scheduled change so nothing to do with Vertonghen.

New Directors acknowledge that Vertonghen is off (which is good) - interestingly but slightly off topic like Spurs their future strategy is to major on developing their own players (even more than Ajax are renowned for).

Nothing new in Jacobs 'ITK' which has not been on this site (or 'AjaxShowtime' which broke the news of Levy's then impending trip to Amsterdam a few weeks ago)

Tbh I'd've thought Inglethorpe or Pleat are more likely to take on the caretaker role if the new guy isn't in place by the start of pre-season. Both have managerial experience, and have acted also as caretaker for us on multiple occasions previously.

I fucking hope we have a manager in place by start of pre-season.
