We aren't signing anyone else and will be unlikely to do anything more than ship out a couple of loan players before the window closes.

I said this in the MM thread on Tuesday, and the more info we get the more this view is confirmed.
Well thanks for that oracle....I'll be back in January, might as well close the thread now we know for sure.

South Coast Big Club.

IIRC it originated with their former chairman Rupert Lowe, possibly when we got Hoddle, he said something like we're as big a club as Spurs. Hence SCBC. That's how I remember it anyway and as usual, i'm probably fucking senile.

You don't think that will actually stop the endless guesses as to what SCBC could be do you?:)

Just pay the extra £5m ffs Levy

If Poch can get us into the CL then we will make 50m, MS is the player Poch clearly wants for CL qualification

Don't think it's just about stumping up more money at this stage, they have to save face and we can't shift any players either.

I hope that no-one gets close to Levy's valuation of Townsend, I like him and think that coached well, will prove to be a real asset this season and a handful for our opposition.

It always puzzles me that Levy gets the blame for protracted and failed deals. Southampton could be asking £30m for all we know, and he, like the rest of us, would surely go thanks, but no thanks, MS is not worth that.

Or it could be that we meet the asking price, or as near as dammit, and the other team move the goalposts. As some of the ITK suggests has happened with MM. Decide they want more. Change the agreed payment structure. Just because Levy has this image of being totally obdurate, it is equally possible that those with whom he is negotiating are more the problem.

Slow balling for the cheapest deal. You want a player, you place a bid, and you work on it. With us it's place a small bid, annoy the selling club, and hold out. While the player wants to go.
Also for once if MS and MM are the players Pochettino wants then sign them. Don't be looking for alternatives.
I meant that it's about time Levy woke up and got his hands dirty. If they isn't any movement on either deal by Tuesday of next week, I can honestly see neither deal happening.
I agree to an extent and also we mess around with deals for so fucking long that by the time we cut our losses and move on there's no time to get anyone else in as selling clubs have no time to replace them. I would like MS but if we don't get a centre back then we are fucking fools wether it be MM or someone else and that is something I will lay squarely at levys door!

I think getting MS in would help the team adapt quicker to Poch's system and style. One of our midfielders can probably fit in Schneiderlins role, but it might take a little longer.

I don't buy this MS being the only player who can play the role Poch needs him to play. As if we would hire a manager to play a system based on a player we don't have. Even if we thought we could buy him it's not that simple.

I believe it was over a tiff they had with The Sun newspaper whereby Saints banned them from the premises because of some row over photography rights. The Sun, in some lame attempt at retaliating, began referring to them not by their real name, but "South Coast Big Club" instead.

The Goat's ITK changes nothing of my opinion (that MS will sign this window) simply because there's been so much conflicting info so I'm just refusing to become bipolar about this. Grey Fox seems very positive about it and JJ isn't ruling it out so that's good enough for me :)

I think that this is probably why we're still pushing, more a matter of giving the whole adaptation angle a quick boost. I think if it happens it'll happen on deadline day for a fair whack.

This worries me if a manager puts all his faith in one player. Now if it's Messi maybe but otherwise there must be other players or the ability for a manager to adapt. Goodness we all expect players to adapt to a new manager so a good manager should be able to adapt to the reality of a club situation.

There was a lot of talk about AVB wanting Moutinho and pretty much sulking when he did not get him. Now I don't know if that was true or just perception but Poch would lose my willingness to trust him if he is so fixated on one player. So I choose not to believe all this is really true

The Goat's info doesn't rule it out either. He's been told that Schneiderlin has 'accepted' the situation, that doesn't mean he's happy with it or that a deal will not happen, just that he'll get his head down and play, which would seem to be accurate as he was picked in their first game of the season. It wouldn't surprise me either way on this one.

But deep down, i'm expecting another Moutinho moment. Expectation, we tried, we tried hard, wasn't our fault, sorry Poch, here, have Carlton Palmer instead.
