surely all these players can't be leaving without being replaced with a few. Talk of Son, Mason, Chadli, Carroll, Njie, possibly going this week. With champions league on the way, we would surely need to bring in 3 top players to replace them.

If we sell Son, N'Jie and Chadli then we're going to need to go on a wide-player buying spree!

If N'Jie goes then he's swapping with his replacement. If Son goes then I'll start thinking of the special prayer that GreyFox mentioned recently.

Things are looking a bit erratic this week.

A bid for Zaha while releasing Son and Njie. Our bench looks desperately anaemic at the moment with nothing there last week aside from Alli that suggested we could change or chase the game if we had to. Releasing Son seems particularly disappointing and it's not clear at all that Zaha would offer an improvement. Zaha is pretty underwhelming - has he shown more than Berahino, who can arguably play in a broader range of attacking positions?

Offering Bentaleb a bumper new 5-year deal but shipping him out after almost no game time last season. If he's got an attitude problem, was that not clear when they were wooing him to sign the 5-year terms? Is the guy immune to an attitude adjustment, given he clearly has talent?

And even the little barb about Lamela 'showboating' seemed a bit off - Lamela actually beat his man and went passed him, which isn't his usual game - so surely the outcome should be applauded even if it was a 'showy' move that did it.

Bentaleb was let go as he tried to force the manager to put him in the team. He's talked himself out of the club. Not sure how would could foresee that happening.

We had already bought Bales replacements, and Ozil was surplus to requirements with a star squad a Madrid

But the moves did still happen on the last days of the transfer window. If you look at Madrid then Rodriguez could be available. I don't expect us to get him, but he's an example of a big player that could still move in the last days of the transfer window.

September 1st that state starts. A few more days

Going on holiday for a few days starting Monday. No Internet connection, not sure if good or bad thing.

Do like the drama of last day of windows, but what an anti climax after scouring every possible source all day long for any small snippets suggesting we're signing a top player only to end up seeing some Sunderland fan holding a purple dido behind a SSN reporters head as the windows passes with no last minute gifts.

Think I'll just go for the @Trix Cider and Quavers (other reputable brands are available) approach that day.

If Mason is off then I say best of luck to him. Very hard working and committed player who I feel has been hampered with a few injuries which has made it difficult for him to progress. I think he will do well at Hull with regular first team football. Shame another Spurs boy (like Townsend) couldn't make it here but the competition is so tough now.

I'm not expecting a replacement for Mason because Wanyama replaces him in the squad really. Bentaleb hardly featured so he doesn't need replacing either. Hopefully Winks gets more opportunity now though. Plus we still have Carrol to use as a scapegoat. All bases are covered.

I wonder how much trust Poch has in Winks this season.

But 2 of those barely played and 2 were back up and 1 replacement (gkn) lined up

I would have thought the monies garnered for these players would be paying for wanyama and janssen.

Would make sense, although i am getting the feeling things are changing very rapidly behind the scenes in every regard.

It seems very fluid. We want to bring players in, and therefore all avenues are being explored. Chadli, N'Jie, Son, Mason, Carroll are all probably being floated as options if Poch sees the need to make more appropriate signings.

Surely with all these possible outgoings we arent 90% of getting our targets in... Surely we wouldnt do that???

..... On second thoughts that does sound like something we might possibly do.
