The bit about Son and Traore is slightly baffling to me. Son is so much better as a wide forward than up top, and Traore has little end product.

If we want another wide forward, sign one who scores and gives assists.

If we want another striker, sign one who scores.

Well Traore is clearly wanted by Nuno regardless. Son isn't that bad up front, he just needs someone who can hold the ball up to play off. He'd probably have a similar problem playing from wide forward without someone like Kane up top. Traore is that player who can boss defenders and get hold of the ball to bring Son into play.

I'm befuddled by the idea that CCV's injury is likely to prevent us getting another CB, he isn't going to play a part and if he is fit in January we'll be looking to sell him as soon as and I doubt he's one of our highest earners, perhaps we're just happy with what we've got anyway and I suppose he can fit in while he's around.

I don’t think the article was implying that CCV is preventing us from getting a new one. Seemed an almost coincidental comment. Just that we were hoping to move him and seems like now we can’t.

Maybe the 300,000 odd we were going to get for him was all the difference

You are probably right, as I say it may well be that we're happy as we are, hopefully Tomiyasu will come in, not strictly as a CB but he can be an option if we are stretched.

Aurier has indicated via his Instagram that he’ll reject Lille due to loyalty to their rivals, Lens

as pointed out in his player thread.

we shouldn't lambast the man for staying loyal to the club that helped produce him, instead such characteristics should be encouraged and celebrated as so little integrity is in the game nowadays

If anything incoming's are looking more likely day by day.

Sissoko is about to go for a start which frees up a space.

Mendes can concentrate on Adama when he sorts Ronaldo out as well.

No it's not.
We live in hope trix, I always try and stay positive when comes to Spurs. I just feel we need a real quality signing to properly move us forward this window and tbf whilst Linked with good future prospects I haven’t seen anything that will massively impact this season. But then what do I know ?? ?

edit: apart from Romero obv

Alasdair Gold:

Sarr
Tottenham are in the final stages of tying up a deal for 18-year-old Metz midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, with the medical expected to take place in France once personal terms are finalised.

The teenager will remain with the French club for the coming season in order to develop there.

It was a deal that Paratici and Tottenham felt they had to grab with both hands, including the loan, in order to secure one of Europe's brightest young prospects ahead of a number of other top clubs. Those inside the club have compared it to the move for Dele Alli back in 2015.

Moriba
The same scenario is the case for Ilaix Moriba, Barcelona's 18-year-old midfield sensation, with Tottenham feeling it's just too good an opportunity to turn down as they look to try to secure one of the game's top young players.

For Tottenham, Moriba would be a player for the now, albeit competing in a busy midfield, even with the departure of Sissoko.

The move for Moriba is still at a delicate stage, with plenty of big clubs across Europe, including Chelsea, looking at what would be a bargain buy of less than £20m for one of Europe's top young players.

Traore/ Striker
Espirito Santo and Paratici's desire to bring in Adama Traore from Wolves is currently proving to be more difficult by the day as the Midlands club look to keep the winger.

football.london understands that Traore's arrival would have been rather than signing another striker, with Son Heung-min pushing up to be more of a regular front man alongside Kane.

If Traore is deemed off the table then that could see Spurs return to looking at strikers, although moves for Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez have thus far run aground.

Tomiyasu
If Aurier does depart then Tottenham will attempt to sign a right-back, with Takehiro Tomiyasu, with his ability to play on the right and in the centre of a defence, a long-term summer target.

Ndombele/ CAM
The same goes for a creative attacking midfielder if Tanguy Ndombele were to get his wish to move fulfilled this summer, although the chances of someone matching Spurs' valuation of their £60m club record signing remain slim at this point.

Centre Back:
Tottenham did also want to sign another new centre-back as well as Romero, however the current numbers in the position make that difficult. Even Cameron Carter-Vickers, who was expected to leave this summer, may have had his chances of a move scuppered by his ankle injury last week.

Wow, I didn’t realise that Traore would also be at the expense of a second goalscorer/striker. ? Good thing he’s such a reliable goal scorer.

Quite impressed with the sheer efficiency of the idiocy. Revivifying two birds with one stone.

I wonder if there’s stuff behind the scenes with Damsgaard the clubs are all aware of. He plays in all the positions we are short in, available for 30m supposedly, and as a lwf albeit from a small sample has really good goals/assists. Even played well as a central forward. Can’t be arsed with the rest of it. Ridiculous state to get yourself in as a club, apparently pinned by various situations we’ve known about since before the start of the window.

I think we should stick to the young signings. They’re exciting to me, and I really think more our level in terms of how we conduct ourselves in the market. I mean that in a positive way.
