Harry really wanted Fabiano big time. But the guy just used us during the summer. I'd be worried if that comes off.

Remember you buy the person, not just the player

I understand that ryan, but even after last summer when he did the drty it was mentioned several times that Fabio was the ONE harry reallt wanted this window?....how can his perosnality of changed in a month?

On a side note, I think it is a testament to harry that he beleives in the players at the club. The kind of things he has been saying regarding the players who still play for Tottenham Hotspur can only fill them with confidence. He has that knack on making players rediscover form when the chips are down, I trust he can do it with the strikers we have.

Just ask some of the players

Load of bollocks.

Tell that to players like Keane.

VDV is an autostarter. But what of those players who Harry keeps saying are good players but who can't even get 1 minute on the pitch?

I think Harry and everyone else felt that he would be available for a lot less then he went for. remember we bid £19m for him only last year.

less risk.

But as far as I was aware we stepped away maybe 5 or 6 days ago, considering the saga that has unfolded, that was quite a long time ago. They asked for the £19m that we offered before, Harry wasnt keen for that money

I see where you coming from Ryan but if Harry didn't see him as a fit for our side the money reason shouldn't carry all the weight in my eyes. If he wasn't convinced negotiations shouldnt even of got off the ground...we could be concentrating on more suitabile options and not wasting valuable time.

But cheers for your take.

The same could be said for Suarez, don't think he'll be winning over plaudits with his 'sporting' personality!

People are winding the cogs up tonight based on what Redknapp has said.

If the player isn't available that Redknapp wants then that's good enough for me.

Who mentioned it? ITK's? Hardly definitive is it?

IIRC correctly, isn't Harry the manager that insisted on bringing in Palacios, Keane, Defoe and Chimbonda at the first opportunity to address key areas in the team that were failing, at a cost of over £40m?

Yet now he is a small-time manager who hasn't a clue.

He's been able to sign top level strikers that would fit in our team and upgrade it to that level, yet nonchalantly has refused to do so, instead placing faith in Crouch and other strikers failing to score.

That suggests 2 thoughts to me.

Firstly, Harry is out of his depth and has been exposed at the top level.

Or a core of posters on this forum are utterly clueless about football management and think it's just a video game, one that they like to think they're quite good at.

just quick question? its obvious problem here is paying the wages for top striker to come here right? so why go out to spain again where tax laws really help players there earn more cash and try to get one from there??? we must have bitten bullet then and said fuck it lets just get him on wages he wants OR torres is in spain now lol!!!!!!

and thats another question.. torres is obviously leaving. why not put in a bid and see .. fucking offer him what he wants..push boat out.. he is the ideal target for us.... done deal...how many torres become available
Yes and no.

What happens when Torres is injured again. We rely on Crouchieboy?

11 players start a football match buddy. Not 25!

Harry has not rubbished any players at our club, in fact he has let some go onloan to rediscover their form in order to fight harder for a place, see Alan Hutton as a prime example.

How can Keane start? he plays the role that VDV does! I'd be the first to sigh if I saw Keane in the team ahead of Rafa when I find my seat in the san siro!

Well, how do you know that Keane is 100% going to be shit if he's played upfront with VDV in the "natural role"?

Its simple. Crouch can't score in the league. Defoe can't score in the league. So what's the harm in at least trying it out?

Besides, I think my point is that Harry's shit hot man management only really works for those players getting starts.

But of course, you can't say anything bad about Harold can you? Cause if he goes, well you're just one of the rest of us, right?

But how long can we sustain this policy for? We need to be contention for top 4 every season, last season we were lucky in that Man City were still getting their shit together and Liverpool were in decline. This season is already proving tougher despite an upgrade on our striker options (VDV). But if we seriously want to keep this momentum going we need a proper 25 goal a season striker on our books.

No, I'm not saying that. What I am saying is your suggestion of throwing any old money at an injury prone player is utterly foolish. We've had our fill of injury prone players in King and Woodgate. If we are going to commit ourselves to another injury prone player then there must be some sense to the deal instead of "throw any old money at it".

With your attitude, if you ran a club you'd be bankrupt in a day.

I'm really concerned about our lack of transfer strategy since we got rid of the DoF structure. Come back Comolli, all is forgiven!

Agree with this.

Looking at Redknapp's buys since he came to Spurs I wonder if he has confidence in himself to identify talent based abroad. Seventeen signings. Fourteen bought from English clubs. Of the three foreign based signings two were from clubs that we have a club partnership arrangement with and VdV was pulled out of the bag last minute stylee by Levy.

Perhaps that explains Carroll, Neville and Parker.
