Morning all. There is so interesting info from JJ there, i'm not sure what he means by Leandro's agent doing a bunk during the Olympics. Does he mean he ducked out of the Olympic Park to come and negotiate with us or does he mean he ducked out of negotiations with us?

JJ mentioned this on Twitter last summer. LD's agent apparently went missing when we were trying to negotiate with him.

Good morning Stoof old bean, how the devil are you?

On a more serious not, that hashtag #notthecalmbeforethestorm was rather deflating but I'm pleasantly surprised that Levy seems to trust a manager/head coach, makes a refreshing change but begs the question where was the trust in January?

Maybe that wasn't DL though? Maybe AVB just didn't see much value in the January market? We do know they were negotiating for Leandro, so that was clearly on...

Are you kidding? Does he have a stake in Leandro or something because it seems like a massive conflict of interest for him to be able to negotiate personal terms for an asset he has a stake in.

Sounds like he got a sniff from a Champions League team and did a bunk to keep us on the hook.

"Waiting until after the Confed cup"...haha. This has to rank up there along with those other gems:

"We're waiting for the World Cup to end"
"We're waiting for the Euros to end"
"We're waiting for Chelsea and Man City to get the market moving."
"The dog ate my homework"

It wasn't so much a requirement of value from the January window though, was it?
We needed a body that had his striking boots laced up and ready to go!
Hindsight is 20:20 and this is a very simplistic argument but a two goal return from a striking option could have got us Champions League football.

It's not a criticism of AVB or Levy and his Levy time antics, it's just a fact that sometimes you need to shoot from the hip, strike while iron is hot or any other cliché

JJ's hash tag #notthecalmbeforethestorm shouldn't really surprise anyone. It's still very early days with players away on holiday or international duty.

Really don't think too much will happen until July and even then we might have to wait until players start returning to their clubs for pre season.

Must. Resist. Being. Posting. Here.

Morning. People (for GF)
This post got a "watch it!" rating - WTF? I don't have that as an option.

I have a feeling today (and the rest of June) will be pretty quiet :(

The Brazilian squad were staying in St Albans as their president didn't want them 'partying' at the Olympic Park
AVB went to visit them
I remember the photo of AVB and Hulk. Everyone got excited about the possibility of signing him until he followed the Russian roubles and cost a squillion euros.

is it not at least partially true, though?
Players perform well, new clubs take notice or agents think they can get more for their clients? it is a business, after all. Players are away in Brazil or Israel at a tournament.

Takes two sides (or more!) to complete a transfer. Agents are not always the most moral of individuals.

If AVB actually gets the players he wants, I can live with that.

AVB went to meet Sandro with a couple of his coaching staff as they hadn't meet yet.
Which translated to we're are buying Hulk in typical Spurs fashion
The staff there said Sandro was a true gent and Neymar was a little cockface
Nothing we didn't already know there then

That's where all the Arsenal players go after training, I hope we don't lose any players to them :unsure:

Used to be used a lot by Arsenal and Mr Wenger actually opened their newly refurbished restaurant a few years back
However there is a lovely Spurs shirt as worn by and signed by a certain Diego Maradona hanging in the corridors there

Sure but the point is Levy doesn't wait because of World Cups/Euros/Confed cups. He waits because that's his style - to drive down the price and get what he thinks is the best deal. I don't necessarily agree with this approach, but it is what it is.

I only wish we could identify players before they made it famous at world cups and other tournaments.

This. The transfer window isn't even open yet. The only deals done so far are by the rich boys and that's been them meeting the buyout clauses of some players;

Neymar -> Barca
Navas -> City
Goetze(sp) -> Bayern

Doubt we can afford the buyout clause of anyone unless its <20 million. I reckon the fixtures will be out before we sign anyone.

Ps West Ham are obviously trying to sell season tickets, Negrado!..as if!

Found it really interesting the update about switching targets at almost a moments notice. Goes to show that unless you can lay down the fee and the wages in full straight away how much work and luck must be required in order to pull one of these transfers off. Throw third parties in and the fact we're competing with numerous clubs and it's no surprise some of these transfer sagas are so drawn out.

did anyone say the competitions are holding Levy up? I only said that the market is quite slow as a whole and then added tournaments begin soon. Agents stall, players stall. Levy likes the thrill of the chase, everyone knows.
