€20M is completely reasonable for a prospect of leandro's caliber.

Leandro is in double figures as no.9 for brazil.

15m?

Bargain

I think it'd be a Levy special, 15m base, then a multitude of addons that would benefit us greatly if achieved. So if Leandro flops we're not on the hook for a gazillion dollars but if he's a huge success both clubs are happy with the deal.

I just hope all this Leandro speculation actually amounts to something.

It feels like de ja vu after the last couple of transfer windows.

And nor should it be.

If Damiao looked that promising there would have been a plethora of european clubs bidding for him last summer. I doubt if we bid more than the 11m quoted by Inter's chairman today, and nor should we have, because he was a gamble on various levels and if we had bid 20m, plus his wages, if it went wrong we would be on the wrong end of a 35-40m pill. And this is not an option for a club in our position. The wrongest deal we've ever done (I believe) was Bentley, and that deal has probably cost us about 25m less any fee we end up with. A club who made a pre tax profit of just 600k last year cannot afford to take many hits like that. Just about every major deal has to make financial sense. Paying market value or over market value for players yet to fulfil potential would be mental and end up with us becoming......yes I'm going to say it again......Leeds.

It's better to buy 10 Aaron Lennon's for 1m and hope just one makes the grade, that buy 1 Bentley and he doesn't.

I partially agree with this however Leandro has proven to be more than a prospect or potential, he will be a world class player come 2-3 years time and if we don't pull the trigger now at 20 million pounds and get him in we can all watch him leave for double that to one of our rivals in a few years time. Anyone would be stupid to believe he's worth any less and he is a perfect fit for us, with a bit of coaching and adaption this kid will bang in plenty goals for us and its a risk I think we should take 1000 times over than to splurge a similar on another Bentley type signing who to be honest wasn't as prolific in his position at that age.

why on earth is there even a debate about wages and transfer fees for this guy? pulling a leeds? smashing our wage structure? breaking the bank? how do folks jump to these assumptions? how about we all just remember who is running our fiscal show and give the guy a little credit... i get the sense he knows what he's doing!

Out of interest, who does make big profit or infact any profit in in football. I havent really studied that side of it so wouldn't know but I would think if the owners are about making big profit I would say they are in the wrong game. I cant see us ever 'doing a Leeds', there are some real big backers behind us.

HHHAAA with ya. Even still only 9 games for full squad. But in saying that the U23 is near enough full strengh.;)
the under 23's would smash England first team and he is arguably the most important player

reputation maybe, but watch the games that Brazil have played here.

Leandro Damiao has been crucial for them

Not what my point was about, Neymar and Hulk are so greedy they clearly think they're the most important players in the Brazilian team.

I also think it should be said that he is chosen to lead the line ahead of Pato who has a massive reputation throughout the world. Shows how highly he is regarded by the Brazilian staff.
