There was chat about this last night. Scousers or Southampton? I'd have thought that the player will have quite a firm say in where he wants to go. 1 of those he'd probably go for whilst the other probably not. Wages would also be a major consideration. Southampton on 2/3 of the wages?, then no thanks.

Not too worried about the Ben Davies news. If it's Southampton then I'd be fairly surprised if he agrees to go to them over us, it's not just Swansea's choice over who to accept. If it's Liverpool then it opens up Moreno for us to have a run at signing too. Only one that slightly concerns me would be Chelsea - hopefully he's sensible enough to know that would be a bad move for his career though.

I have no opinion on him at all as I didn't watch any of his Swansea performances.

If you've no idea or opinion of his value, then how can you conclude we deliberately dawdled in order to appease fans in some way?

For Blind or Rodriguez I would break the bank a bit. Add a Centre Back and maybe one attacking player and we are more than sorted.

I never said we deliberately dawdled (think it got mis-interpreted somewhere)... I simply said that if Davies goes to another team who came in later and offered more, then it gives Levy the opportunity to drag out a "we tried" line. We know from experience that Levy is a hard man to deal with, and sometimes that leaves us coming up short by missing out on a player that was worth what another team offered
I personally couldn't care less who comes in as LB, as long as we don't start the season with BAE, Naughton or Rose there.

If the info's true, then we made an offer, Swansea held out for something better, and now something better has come along. The alternative is we'd have offered more, maybe Swansea would have sold to us, and anyway the better offer would not have in this case gazumped us.

Basically, assuming the rumours are true, you think Ben Davis is worth more than we offered. On what basis have you made that assessment though?

I wish I had an opinion on the whole Davies affair, but I have no recollection of him whatsoever. I've seen him at least two full games last year (if he played against us - I haven't checked) maybe a couple more, but don't remember him at all.

It's so annoying not knowing whether to be pissed off or delighted that we are being gazumped.

if we have alternatives and ones that are clearly more exciting (anyone not rose or davies basically) then makes me think we're working at the mo to a tight budget which would fit with the itk so far. We all know we need the 4 positions covered and we're probably juggling which of the 4 to 'break the bank' on. There are certainly bargains out there in all 4 positions (reckon why we were looking at davies for 8-10m) where spending 20m on rodriguez (assuming we could ever get him) leaves us shopping cheaper elsewhere. Say perhaps davies and lukaku against rodriguez and remy for example.

Personally, i'm quite happy to get gazumped on this one.

Come on Levy FFS!!! Pull your finger out.... Its a miserly 2million quid ... get it sorted you little dwarf... What the hell are we playing at? I'm eye spinningly distraught that poch has had part of the squad for 1.5 days training and hasn't clearly identified that danny rose has one wooden leg with a wheelie fitted in the boot (and that's his good leg) If we don't get a LB before week 2 of preseason I'm gonna bludgeon the missus with a baseball bat!

Nope... Think i'll stick to patiently waiting and see-ing. As for Davies - tidy little player but a bit rich at that kinda figure so i would hope we move on as theres probably nothing left to see here.
