I'd rather pay £30m for Rodriguez and Veltman, than £30m for Davies and Lovren...

This is all hypothetical, but it goes to show how ridiculously overpriced british/british based players are.

if we have alternatives and ones that are clearly more exciting (anyone not rose or davies basically) then makes me think we're working at the mo to a tight budget which would fit with the itk so far.
Personally, i'm quite happy to get gazumped on this one.

...and if there's any truth in this then it would indicate that sales of players are not happening at the mo...speculation based on speculation I call it :D

Depending on a few factors.....£30m for either pairing maybe a bit optimistic in the pricing.

I don't see Ben Davies going for any more than £10m, and i dont see Lovren moving for any more (or less) than £20m.

Rodriguez has been quoted between £20-25m, and apparently Veltman can go for £6m

Shame if we don't move on Davies (the gazumpers must surely be Liverpool), I think he's a very good player who, if he kicked on a level, could be a top notch left back. But there is a limit to our spending, and its good to see us targeting a left back and centre half.

Does always interest me that people in general prefer players based abroad than those at home, maybe the mystery makes them more attractive, but I can't help thinking the players we buy this summer have PL experience if possible so Pochettino gets off to a good start and earns some time to put in some medium-long plans in place. We have enough changes without having to settle in yet more players to the country and the league.

I'm glad we've got alternatives. I don't want us to pay over the odds on players if there are other better value options out there.

Good that Poch is setting the bar this early and hopefully identify which players have it and which ones don't so to speak.

Also interesting about CPO (although for the other thread) because me and the kids love balloons:)

Yup the prices for Lovren and Davies sound ridiculous, and hopefully this puts the impetus on us to improve our scouting so that we don't have to rely on these big money signings.

25m for someone like Lovren is insane.
