Must admit I did always think Bale only came back because he wanted to get match fit for the Euro's.

Things are going to be very different this Summer as far as what I pass on is concerned. I'm hearing so many names at the moment it's very difficult to work out which are serious targets, which are fall back options and which are just agent links. It's litterally all being leaked to the press. This means I'll only be posting about those that are quite far along in the process, unless it's a player I have a more direct link with. I've posted a week or so back regarding Tommy and fwiw that could be pushed through at any time because we are close, and have been for a week or so.

One thing I will say is we have had two enquiries for Kane,(not official bids) and they were both met with the same answer. "We are not selling him". Now we all know money talks so it's not definitive, but I'd say it's unlikely he moves this window.

Oh and again because I'm still seeing talk of it. Bale is not coming back.
Thanks Trix.
It does seem like there are a ridiculous amount of press links this preseason.
I'm going to assume that's a bi-product of Paratici and his relationship with selected media outlets and then aggregators picking up on it

This window I'm more interested in who is leaving/ staying than who is coming in.
Trix has been very consistant about lots of names coming ib and talking longer for different reasons.
I can't wait for the window to close tbh and see what/ who we have for the next year

Can't help feeling that Bale used us to get fit for the Euro's. It was patently obvious that it was gonna take a while because he hadn't played regularly for so long. I don't think he was fully fit all season and part of the blame for that goes to Mourinho who didn't play him enough early on to get to that fitness earlier.

Even if it's true re: the Euros I don't think "used" is a fair connotation.

All transfer dealings are, in essence, mutually beneficial transactions (perceived or actual) at the point of agreement.

Also, the Euros thing doesn't exclude the likelihood he was happy to come and happy to be here. I just don't think he'll look at his output and the way he was treated and think "yeah that went well, didn't it?"

Poor management by Mourinho given his hot form at the end once some steady minutes got in. Nice parting gift.

On the Kounde story, just heard it's true but complicated. Swap deals are rare but Sanchez is very close to Juan and they have been talking a lot about La Liga etc. Its a big reason why he is open to the move as he's been struggling personally since his best mate has left.

Thanks for the update. Interesting that names are being leaked all over the place. As you say, it would take an obscene offer to prise Kane away this summer, so either we get another season from him or we end up with a colossal transfer chest. I’m not too fussed about Bale not returning; he’s insanely expensive and I’d much rather us use the funds on one or two promising youngsters. Does suggest we might need another wide player to plug the hole he leaves behind. I’m not going to speculate on who that might be, just that I sense this is going to be a very busy window

It's likely Sanchez would feel way more at ease in Spain with the language and a much more similar culture. While I'm apprehensive about Koundés actual ability and fit for us, I want to trust those who do this for a living and it seems very much like a good deal for all involved.

Sad about Bale. At least we got to see him back for one season, such a shame without full fans in though

Agreed, would have been good to welcome him back properly. Still, there's a big chunk of wages freed up for longer-term prospects hopefully.

Ally gold said in his latest video that Paratici likes to be in negotiations with up to ten players for each position, so he can't be held over a barrel by anyone, so it makes sense that loads of names are being mentioned.

Surely being in negotiation for so many risks creating negative relationships with numerous clubs who think you have been stringing them along.

So does levy's last minute changes. At least Paraticis approach is we can pay this much and this salary if you don't like it we are talking to these other players. Everyone knows where they stand.

And if they all agree to the terms we sign 5 right backs? It's a daft suggestion and even more daft to suggest this guy has a magic method that is his alone. As with most clubs, he probably sounds out a bunch of options to see if buyer and seller are in the same ball park and then goes for the priorities. The idea we negotiate terms with several players simultaneously, only to balk at all but one is dopey.

Kounde will just be our latest over ambitious target. As long as it doesn't run all through the window and end with us getting a shit alternative on deadline day I can live with that.

And as Willian proves, nothing is agreed until everything is signed.
