I hope Dragon1's ITK is better than their financial knowledge.

ENIC do not own 100% of Spurs shares (probably somewhere between 75%-85%) and they would be very fortunate to find an investor willing to put in £200m and yet happy to leave ENIC with the controlling interest. Bear in mind at the time of delisting Spurs were valued around £100m.

Sorry, how are we only worth £100m? The value of Bale and Modric's contracts alone is close to that at the point of sale, we've spent a fortune on buying land around the stadium which is now in the possession of the club and have just bought a £45m asset of the training facility.

The training ground, and all the land around the stadium maybe assets, but they are also liabilities. (mortgaged). Players also may be seen as assets but what true value do they hold? I'm not sure where the 100m figure comes from and I am sure it would be higher than that, BUT... no where near to £1bn value that was being mooted in terms of the investment. (200m investment for only 20% of the club).

Assets - liabilities will be the worth of the club. In the 2011 financial report the club was valued at £81m.

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/media/docs/annual_report_2011.pdf - You want page 34, consolidated balance sheet.

Of course, financial reports tend to undervalue players like Modric and Bale. Edit: The intengiable assets of £101m will contain our playing staff.

Edit2: Back to the original point, the club would be sold for whatever the club's owners are willing to sell for.

There is absolutely no need to do a cryptic regarding Vertonghen, everybody knows how close we are to signing him - there isn't anything to compromise.

Umm, no. That would be the valuation if the club stopped as a going concern today and decided to sell all assets and pay off all liabilities. It does not take into account future profits, as any reasonable valuation would.

Forbes values Spurs at $564m (roughly £360m). http://www.forbes.com/soccer-valuations/list/

There are about 4 bajillion ways to "value" a company though. It's assets are a factor but not necessarily decisive.

FWIW I think we can all happily tune in to the Euros knowing full well that business hours are going to important. It doesn't matter if Spurs staff/board work on Sundays, it matters that the public are most likely to take notice on a Monday - and as someone said before, drag media coverage out for a week.

There should be no lynching of people on here either. The information that you choose to believe should not form a stick with which to beat people. FWIW, I think we can say that we're close on a couple of things, hinting at another couple of players, ready for a new manager and potentially announcing something that's related to the financial future of the club.

Quite frankly, I think this week will be consumed with football matters.

Please all have a cup of tea before the footy, and let's have a nice chilled evening of not reacting hysterically at every bit of information.

They're all Spurs fans and they're all passing it on in good faith. Share the love.

So, Rebrab going against the grain with Blanc then? Interesting, I've never found his ITK very convincing, so if he calls this right he could be up there with the big-hitters....

I don't receive enough info to ever be one of the 'big hitters', nor would I share anything that was revelationary enough for me to be considered one. The only ones that can, IMO, are people who have been given permission to by the club.

And I have heard nothing on Blanc, although JJ seems to be strongly hinting at this and he has been spot on with everything in the past, so he is certainly worth a bet.

To add to what Mr Ben and SlickMongoose have said, here's Matthew Collecott:

Spurs finance director Matthew Collecott, who was speaking at the club's Annual General Meeting, revealed the problems that he has experienced during discussions with banks as Tottenham attempt to ease the estimated £400million cost of the Northumberland Development Project.
The club will require a naming rights deal in order to advance with the plan for a new 56,000-capacity venue and they are also seeking substantial funding from the public and private sectors to realise their aims.
Collecott said: "It has been pointed out to us that we have a value of about £80-£90m. When you compare that to other clubs, they are talking about £600m or £1.5billion, so clearly, we are not valued by the market and it's a huge inconsistency.
"When I sit down with banks, it's a very difficult conversation, because you're talking about a stadium that will cost hundreds of millions when the club are valued at £80-£90m."

Yep, there are many ways to value a company and mostly it's a multiple of turnover.

Clearly Spurs are worth far more than 100m.

Let's keep this to foote eh
