Why so much love for Capoue?

He looked good to start, got injured, had a mare at centre back then hasn't featured.
Meanwhile, a 19 year old kid has come into the team, repeatedly hit impressive statistical markers and looked a natural. Alongside this, 2 (TWO) Brazilian international central midfielders look on enviously as they return to full fitness. Not to mention the unique strength and dribbling talents of our Belgian international and the special creative talents of our Danish international, all of whom can play in a CM position.

We are absolutely stacked in CM. Capoue is probably a really good player but he also probably surplus to requirements.
That isn't Sherwood playing God, it's a basic rumination on the (large) squad.
And after all that he'll probably stay cos the Chairman is a playa.

Fret not people, Capoue or not, we'll be fine.

Makes me wonder why we bought him in the first place then.

We're winning games with Sherwood's selections
We're winning games with Sandro & Paulinho & Verts still to return
We're over resourced in CM
Selling Capoue, recouping cash and using the funds to strengthen other areas (up front & LB)

What is possibly wrong with any of this?

All this moaning is CRAZY!

What's wrong with it is that we most certainly won't use the money to strengthen. Even though one of our biggest rivals for 4th is spending a shitload on Mata and Liverpool are likely to buy players as well.

If we sold Capoue and bought a top left back like Ricardo Rodriguez then I would be very happy, but of course we won't do that.

It would be unfortunate, but we don't know what will happen before the window closes.
Even if we didn't buy anyone, losing Capoue makes very little impact to our club given what he has produced so far this season.

With regarsd your Man U and Pool comments.... we spent a truckload last summer. We can't fork out mountains of cash every window. Mata is exactly what Man U need. Are we a big enough drawcard for Mata if we rivalled their bid?

Pool haven't bought anyone yet. No need to get too worried about thing that MIGHT happen.

I just think the hoo-ha and negativity is all a bit unnecessary over a plyer that in all honesty has done SFA for THFC so far.

We are not over resources at DMC. Selling Sigg would make more sense IMO.

This idea that we've not got enough players who can do a job in a 'defensive' midfield position is nonsense.

Looking at 'classic' DMs sure, Sandro and Capoue but we're getting a bit 'Football Manager' about things here.

Bentaleb is currently excelling as a sitting midfielder.
Dembele is perfectly capable of playing a disciplined role in the centre
Paulinho played the entire Confed. Cup as part of a DM2 and was quality.
If one of Capoue or Holtby stays, they can play in there.
Eriksen can play a Modric-esque role in a CM2 (doubt it, think Tim's building his team around him, but it's an option).
Carroll only comes back if we end up light on numbers.

It does actually make sense to move players if they want playing time, Chelsea are shipping out Mata after all!
Why did we sign Capoue? Maybe we were still concerned about Sandro long term or Dembele with his recurrent hip problem? Maybe they are not an issue any more.

Maybe the rumours about poor discipline are true and Sherwood isn't impressed.
Given the fact that after Capoue was injured, Andre only selected him for EL games and he didn't get a single minute for 4 Premier League matches indicates there may have been problems even then.

So it's quite possible that Capoue hasn't impressed 2 managers yet we should retain him because 'he hasn't had a chance' and 'what if Van Gaal rates him?'.

Fuck that! Let's move on. We balance books, so if we want to strengthen the squad elsewhere something has to give. He's not 'indispensible to the club' (FM/CM fans ;) ). So let's entertain offers, and if nobody pays, he stays and has to knuckle down.

It doesn't. Siggy is 'homegrown', Capoue isn't.

If we're talking peripheral squad men, the 'homegrown' has greater value.
We are fine for homegrown players. Especially if TS is going to be promoting youth. I would rather have another DMC (especially with Sandro's injury problems) that can cover CB (with Kaboul's Injury problems) than a AMC that isn't creative, when we have Eriksen, Holtby, Lamela & Chadli that can play there.

Ali Z on COYS regarding Berbatov...

Is on the Radar more than 50/50 if we want him deal to be done, they may take one of ours on loan.

Not nearly done but he wants it, Fulham will sell, it comes down to us as usual we are playing games.

Completely contradicts what his agents been saying today.

Not having a pop but just to bust a myth here:

Bentaleb is the only 'promoted youth' player to have got on the pitch in Sherwood's tenure.

He's promoted one kid, who has done really well. It's not quite a hallmark. (Fryers played a bit but he was already in the 1st team squad)
