It is funny how most media outlets think it has been a good window for us. I think it is time for some people to take a step back and look at the bigger picture and look at their own expectations. Also some clearly take the window and most importantly this thread too seriously, breath in and out. And next time don't forget your salt.

Hate to disappoint but he's only 2 years into a 5 year contract at Porto. If we were ever going to sign him, yesterday was the day. Lord knows why if he is such an important target it wasn't done earlier in the week, why did it have to be left to the final day? That is the most frustrating aspect of that transfer. Left with minimal time to complete such a monumentally complex deal, of course the chances were always that it wouldn't happen :S

In other news, SPURS HAVE SIGNED ANOTHER PLAYER!

Aaron Lennon, new 4 contract ;)

Lord knows why indeed. I don't know, you don't know, and in fact no-one except those intimately involved with the negotiations has the first clue as to what actually went on. That doesn't stop people talking about it, though, and it really does appear that some are of the belief that Levy didn't actually pick up the phone and bell his Porto counterpart until yesterday morning.

Amazing, isn't it, that in one phone call Levy managed to persuade him to knock €14m off the asking price? If only he'd made it on Thursday!

We can try again for Moutinho in Jan, I expect Utd will want him next time round but hopefully AVB has turned his head enough to make him want to come to us.

Things can change.....we got to do the deal at the first opportunity just like Lloris

I thought we were nailed on for Cahill after Arsenal signed Mertesecker leaving us as the only suitors

John Terry then got involved in the racist case and Luiz started playing like a clown

Suddenly Chelsea need a centreback and we had no chance after that

The revisionism by the apologists is quite amusing I must say. "Yeah Modric wasn't that good anyway. Was a passenger for most games. We're better off without him. And VdV was injury prone, unfit, lazy and doesn't fit into a 4-3-3."

Laughable.

Anyone listening to Soccer Saturday? I would fucking love to finish above Arsenal and Liverpool this season just to shove it down these ****s throats
Was just thinking the same. They talk so much shit it's unreal, only Le Tiss seemed to be unbiased and had his head screwed on.

yeah. its severley poor punditry.

So wide of the mark on several occassions. Except for Le Tissier. i mean they having a go at getting 'rid' (not loaning out as we have done) our young players saying they never have a chance, whats the point etc... if they paid attention to our policy in the last few years they realise that we have loaned out walker, naughton, livermore, caulker to prepare them for first team football.

And when things are not going right during a game who's going to show leadership to turn hings around. We need strong characters and I can't see many.
Don't forget loris is France captain and vertonghen was captain of Ajax. Gallas is a captain, Parker is a captain, Sandro leads by getting stuck in. I actually think we are quite set for leadership.

He's got to be responsible for what he posts. Saying 'I get excited' isn't good enough i'm afraid. Not when you've got literally thousands of Spurs fans hanging off your every uttering.

As Nicdic said, I think he does get info, if you go back to before he went on Twitter, he was actually quite respected and his postings were fairly evenly spaced, as and when he got info he posted it...........after defecting to Twitter, his posting or info 'ratio' went sky high in comparison. I'm not even going to try and guess why. Twitter did him no favours and several times I asked him to drop it and come back to SC, which he chose not to do. After several 'done' (but not done) deals and a few other things that have previously been mentioned his reputation was in tatters in an almost adie-like way.

There's absolutely no way we can continue to put his stuff in the Read Only any more and that's Akqa's own fault.

It's all a great big shame really.

At one time he was more or less telling people to put money on his information, and whilst anyone dim enough to risk their hard-earned on the basis of ITK deserves to lose his shirt, it's pretty irresponsible to encourage stupidity.

AVB allegedly turned down Sahin because he wanted Mourtinho so badly so am sure he will still want him in Jan or next summer, plus with AVB and Mourtinho close that might make us a better choice than Utd in his eyes although I guess if Utd offer him bigger wages the sentimentality would go out of the window pretty fast.

Cahill had no bond with Redknapp so different i think and hope

Merson seems to think because we signed Sig, Dembele and Dempsey they will be our starting midfield, leaving us too open. Just say no kids.

I do agree to a certain extent but this is a site specifically designed for people who are ITK to tell people who aren't what's going on so it's understandable that people reading would believe some of it.

Think of it if it was a dating site. If you met someone who told you they were a 28 year old woman but when you met they were a 50 year old man you would be disappointed, even though you know you shouldn't believe everything they tell you. This site is designed for a specific purpose and if over a period of time people come across to be abusing the privilege and respect this site gives them then quite rightly they should be castigated in my opinion. The respect game works both ways.
I agree that there should be some comeback or at least the itks explain what went wrong. My fear is that too much vitriol will stop some sharing news.
*I think my choice of wording was a a bit poor and that "not true" should have read "may not happen" as i dont believe that the info is intended to wum.

Merson and Phil, I think they are forgetting that we have at least 4 defensive midfielders and that rotation is the way forward if you want to compete in all competitions, overall we have done pretty well in the transfer market.

Laughable.

Both were absolute class. But in the cold light of day, many in the outside world are saying we got great money for Luka and VDV sale made sense (and both wanted to go). I for one felt Luka was untouchable when the team was on song, but he often had quite days when up against it away from home.

As for VDV he is my favourite player at Spurs in the past 15 years by a country mile, but three things make his sale palatable to me ... (1) I think he is passed his peak physically (2) Spurs has to be run like a business and with length of contract and age I think this was the last window we could have commanded anywhere near the money we got and (3) He would not fit the style of AVB's spurs, VDV dictated the speed of our play and often slowed our game down which allowed for flashes of genius but in the EPL the amount of times he dropped deep to take up the play and allowed teams to get back and get men behind the ball really did not benefit us. The top top teams play with speed, pressure and skill.

I will miss the moments of brilliance from both, but I am excited by the new dawn at Spurs !!!

Yes because Sandro isn't nearly good enough is he, or Parker and there is Livermoore who has no promise what so ever. We are obviously not going to play any of them Merse! What a retard, must have been on the sauce again this morning.

I'm still checking the RO every 15 minutes.

I assume its a little bit like coming off herion, you cant stop it in one full swoop otherwise you will find yourself sitting shaking in a room on your own. Bit by bit you can up it to an hour interval, then a day and before long you will be free of its clutches !!!

By the way - I am the same !!! (y)

Modric should have been sold weeks ago. Mourinho should have been signed before season started. The rest I can understand.

don't think he was going to come, squire!

anyway, what's done (and not done) is done. we've got money to spend in january but i'm just excited to see how things go now. concerned at having only 2 strikers but we've got goals in us from elsewhere.
