Our chairman has once again fucked up with another managerial appointment. We will once again be changing manager soon enough because quite frankly Poch is not good enough and we have failed to bring stability to the club by appointing the wrong man. GUTTED

But what do you really think?

Well I for one am going to support D Potch, hopefully he gets the time and can bring back a good team spirit, hopefully there aren't too many unrealistic expectations put on him..........Unfortunately reading many spurs forums including here it is only a matter of time before people turn on him and then the same people will question the heart of our players , no motivation etc. ....
I hope he is the one to unify Tottenham Hotspur again, I am sick looking at other clubs have success but what gets me most is that they are so well SUPPORTED .... Please can we have our club back....

It's the same Pochettino drum he's been banging for weeks... The blanks have the right number of spaces for "Pochettino", "Southampton", and "Tottenham". It's no revelation at this point but he's been pretty adamant it would be MP ever since Sherwood got the boot.

You know, I think it's probably harder to manage a team without much cash than one of the very top clubs with bucketloads of the stuff and a strong squad to start with. So there's little reason to assume that a manager like Ancelotti (who I respect enormously, by the way) would necessarily be a better bet for us than someone like Pochettino.

I understand the collective ego -boost a very high -level appointment would have given us, but in fact this could well be the better choice. (If such a hypothetical choice ever existed, of course.)

well if it is to be Poch I will go in with open eyes and give him time to prove himself, i hope hes backed in the transfer market to address the lack of balance within the squad and if he can get the players to play to the levels hes got the southampton squad we will be in for a good season as we do have some talented players but far too often have looked clueless and lacked direction on the pitch, if he can coach that hes half way there.

I don't understand why everyone seems so disheartened with Poch, very good young manager with premier league experience who plays attractive football, some people seem to be writing him off before he's even signed the contract. I suppose it's a case of once burned, twice shy, but I for one will give him every chance and support the team no matter what.

I swear you could get the ghost of Bill Nicholson coaching the team and there'd be people saying
'I'm not convinced, he's a bit too seethrough. He had all his success when he was alive too. Since he's been supernatural, what has he won? Levy's really dropped the ball here...'

Some reports/rumors that Michy Batshuayi is a target and we are going to be putting in a bid to trigger his 8m buyout clause. Also, I believe @ryantegan (I think it was Ryan) mentioned this a couple weeks ago. It could potentially be one of those "media a couple weeks behind" scenarios.

Agreed, I was slightly leaning towards FDB at the start of this but have come around to Poch. Soton played an attractive style and after doing some reading it seems a good fit. I think the reason there are so many "disheartened" is they were looking for a bigger name. I get it, but it's time to have an open mind and accept the new manager regardless of who it may be.

I just hope that a massive point was made to the new managerial suitors that they will not be allowed to overhaul the squad but instead must gel the players that we have into a well functioning unit capable of playing the game in an attractive way.

Too often it has felt like Levy must have spun a yarn about buying them their favoured targets and backing them with pots of cash. Then, later in the summer, lo and behold, we end up with a load of last minute cheapos the manager didn't want and he's sat there thinking 'what happened to my list of targets?!'. There's always a very obvious strain between Levy and the manager, and the way DL operates in the transfer market seems to have really caused a problem with the last couple of managers.

So, in summary, if Potch sees the potential in our squad, already has a vision for how he can shape the team and isn't expecting loads of new players, then I welcome the appointment.

We just need more honesty, foresight and planning at the club. The rest of the pieces are there (apart from at LB!!) :)

There were 3 options in fairness and what happened to the one we all wanted ? Roberto something and Danny went with bloody AVB!! I always give options ;0) A & E cant control himself!
Should we take it that Danny's got it right this time?

i wonder if i can get it down to bullet points
  • he's shown no indication of being able to cope with a difficult situation, when his players are sold or things get tense - hence why he left espanyol and why he's leaving southampton
  • a lot of his success at southampton came from being bff's with the chairman. he will not have that relationship with daniel
  • for a club that prides itself on ambition and belief it's a tad strange that we've opted for a man with an 8th placed finish and no cup success to his name
  • we're picking him on potential rather than current ability: which as ramos, andre and sherwood showed, we're shit at predicting
  • if the rumours that we're bringing in rodriguez/schneiderlin/lovren/lallana in are true, then again this doesn't show a man particularly good at adapting
  • he has a strict regimented schedule. so did ramos and andre, and clearly our players need some tact - or at least a bigger name they'll instantly respect
he's the only candidate we were linked with that i had genuine issues with, and they're all personal rather than playstyle. southampton play really, really good football. i just hope that hasn't blinded daniel to what a massive risk this is

ive been reading through the Soton forum and they are gutted to be losing MoPo (that's if the reports and ITK are to be believed...which I do) but its 50 - 50 split in terms of whether we (Spurs) will be signing any players from them also or if there will be a deal where MoPo isn't allowed to go in for their players.
