They will improve our squad as additions to Bale not as replacements.

We aren't going to get anyone on Bale's level. The best you can hope for is we take a chance on a youngster that could hopefully get to that level in like three years time.

would expect he wants to go to get 1st team football, especially in. A world cup year. Would also expect us to. Have some form of 1st option or buyback price set. In a perfect world he goes there for lots of £££ and does well. They still get relegated though and we buy him back for a similar or even lower price next summer. Quite sure That's the master plan. Another levy master stroke! B-)

I know, it looks like we are getting a decent price for him, but wouldn't it just be easier to loan him there for a year instead?

We've had no indication that Bale will throw a strop and he just doesn't seem like the type of player who would do that. I would be very surprised if he doesn't put in another great season if he stays. There is no rush for him to go anyway, he's still young and his time to play for Madrid will come again.

I personally agree with you on both points, but the risk is still there.

If he doesn't have a good season (whether through stropping or just failure to kick on generally) then his value could drop significantly (as in by more than half of what Real are willing to pay) and a club in our financial position has to consider that risk.

It's a tough decision but I don't think it's easy either way.

Talkshit's guy had spent all morning waiting for Bale, who then came and went without saying a word, therefore leaving him with no story.

Then, by sheer chance he hears that Bale had spoken to AVB yesterday or Monday, an hour or so after being left story-less.

They also had an agent on their show an hour or so before, who said that considering the level of confidentiality in dealings such as this, that most press speculation is pretty much guesswork.

Golstein reckons their source was in the room when Bale allegedly said he wanted to leave :rolleyes:

So Bale tells AVB today he wants out and he told Levy 2-3 days ago that he wants out? Do AVB and DL not talk to each other then? Surely AVB would already know this.

If Caulker goes....don't know what to think of the youth system. He's impressed everywhere he's been, capped by England and has had 1 season with the first team. The club must feel the money is too good to turn down.

Sorry if this already has been posted, but not read through the rest of the thread yet.

If our youth system produce players that we can sell for 9m and likely have some sell on clause to give us a few more in the future its a big success.

Sure we would all love to see a few go through to the first team, but to break into our team they need to be really good, so selling players for massive profit is the next best thing.

One has been out for a year, another is out for a month, and the two fullbacks are 1 injury away from Naughton.

Kaboul will be ready for 1st game of the season, Caulker and Dawson can provide cover for Verts. This guy is just a CB so doesn't provide cover for Walker or BAE.

This is not a rhetorical question: why do you people listen to Talksport? Seriously. It is the audio equivalent of the Daily Mail, deliberately spouting controversial or contentious nonsense in order to attract views/listeners and increase advertising revenue. Their brand of journalism is of no value.

I think people listen to it as we want to talk about and listen to football chat all day, and we tune in the hope of it being good but is so rarely is. Once upon a time BBC Radio 5 was 90% sport and now its about 2% sport. We have no where else to go to listen to mindless football chat and that is a great shame.

So much so that I have started learning German in my car each day to and from work as the radio is so rubbish!!

Look at Royston Drenthe who's now plying his trade for Reading!

Gotta disagree with all the negative on di Maria! Agree he's not as good as bale but who is bar messi and ronaldo!?
If di Maria was playing in England our fans would be envious and wishing he was on our team as he is dangerous on the ball can take people on and can shoot from distance. Would be even worse if he ended up at one of our rivals as we could see every week what we could have had. (hazard, mata etc)
However do not think that he would be willing to join us due to lack of CL.

On his diving let me direct you to a certain mr bale that has been savagely critisced for diving this season. Now I for one disagree with this (bar a blatant and funny dive against guzan ((which could of even been season before))) as the times he has been booked for 'diving' have been blatant fouls and at other times ever with slight contact when running at speed this will cause an off balance or cause bale to try and avoid the challenge and then lose balance. So I'm basically saying from the inside we disagree with common misconceptions of diving created by thr media and whilst I can't say di Maria doesn't dive we will undoubtably have a different angle on it if he played for our club...

On people sayin being at Madrid doesn't mean there a good player. Firstly di Maria has been a first choice for Madrid for a few years now ahead of both great and good players. Let me also add in the most successfully Madrid team of recent years. So to compare him to riera (never a starter) drenthe (a bargain that didn't pay off and again never first choice) and others who unlike di Maria haven't been in the first 11 for several successful years under several different highly regarded and proven managers.

So think what your saying before blindly comparing or slagging him off as shit when he's clearly not. Maybe he's not the style of player you see in our team (I do) but this doesn't mean he's crap.

As several people do on here as a reference, watch a you tube clip of him and see if you still feel the same
