In january , we will go for both Jay rod and MS ... thn for two week there will be no more talks ..ITK'S will be saying it will happen on deadline day of january....... On deadline day , ssn will report we make bid for two soton boys and it got rejected ... thn ITK's will appear and say , well in janaury teams don't like to sell their best player ...

Agree with your assessment of those two - but did we ever have bona fide buyers for them?

Hard to tell - it seemed like we had ITK on both of them Andros to Southampton and Lennon to a couple of places. It sounds like we could not agree on the valuation with Southampton, and Lennon said no to his options. I am guessing we would not have gotten enough in the transfer to justify offering to pay a portion of his salary - particularly since we did not have a replacement ready.

How long does Benny have left on his Contract?...surely with no takers for the guy we should just release him and save on his wages?

1 year.

You can only release players at the end of their contract, not when they have time left on it.

IMO we'll loan both him and BK to the championship (they have a loan window still) and that will be effectively releasing them.

The lamela thing just gets me down, thought we had a player again after qpr but everyone I spoke to after yesterday laughed, all think he is very predictable and can only beat people on his left side, Rodgers worked it out yest and the Liverpool players showed him on his left side then nicked it when he dropped his shoulder ! Not convinced at all !

I get the impression reports of 12 million were over exaggerated. Also we wanted MS or JR in return. If we just gave up AT without getting one of those two then we'd be Southamptons bitches - and everyone knows we belong to Real Madrid.

Do you really think that we're ambitious enough? Even if we had gotten MS and JR for 10m£ more than their worth, would'nt our chanses for a top 4 spot increased greatly?

Maybe that's a bet moneywise, but if achieved we would have profited. To dare is to do.

Maybe Poch is happy with our current squad, but I would rather se him happier with it

Ask yourself: would we Get top 4 this season if we signer those players?

Now poch van assess the squad for a long time, and come january or summer, we van have a Very clear strategy... Poch staying for years is of Course essential...

If we don't get Rodriguez in January we are likely to get him in the Summer, and on a free as his contract will have expired.

I might be in minority, but I wasn't really that keen on either. Well MS on right money perhaps. But neither had been hailed as world beater - even though Schneiderlin had good rep - before Poch and can't see JRod as being that naturally talented or special player. Personally would like us to bring in someone with more potential that Poch can turn into JRod 2.0 rather than pay over the odds for development he has done in the past and should be able to do again.

I reckon we did offer £20m, they just wanted £27m based on who they had already sold and the values they went for.

Is a purchase at almost thirty times that realistic?

I think if we wrote it as 27,000,000 then people might just realise how much money that actually is.

A million here or a million there - well actually that's the difference between us turning a profit or making a loss.

So no, I'm not an accountant, nor am I the club's accountant but I deal with multi-million pound deals and I know how much businesses fight over the pennies.
