Jason Burt verified them himself. That's good enough for me.

In his twatter feed Jason Burt backed up the quote by saying "go phone the Daily Mail", so he obviously believes their source.

Roger Morgan works for the Daily Mail (apparently), so if he's doubtful it puts Jason Burt's source in doubt too.

Anyway meh. Expecting a few more "Spurs deal hits trouble" headlines before we eventually sign Carlton Cole.

This been done?

I seen this somewhere yesterday, it would be a good move, get a main striker in (2 if both Defoe and Ade go) and then have him as a youth/3rd choice who would get game time as a sub/cup games.

Who is it?

"No, I am Spartacus". Actually it's not me.

I've been trying to do my very best not to write crap in this thread today, but looks like I've failed.

I usually sail right down the middle about transfers until they are announced. However, POTL's words of wisdom have not made me feel super confident of either signing at the moment. I hope we have other plans and thoughts as alternatives. I'm of course hoping that both are signed, sealed and will be delivered, but I guess only a further week will tell. Back into my box now.

Paulinho should be playing tonight at 8pm on BBC3 for those who want to see our man (potentially) in action.

Would everyone be happy going into the season with our current squad and the additions of Villa and Paulinho, or would we expect one or two more signings?

I wouldn't be, simply because if Villa got injured, we would be stuck with Ade (only plays well when he can be bothered) and Defoe (needs 10 chances before he gets one goal).........and I really don't want another season of just them pair :(

I feel we need another forward or a playmaker type player as well, don't ask me who though

I'd heard Paulinho was maybe doubtful for tonight, I'd maybe prefer if he was, can we just have him kept in a dark room till next week please ?!

Our most promising team in a fair while that's all about looking towards the future is going to have a sponsor that hasn't been relevant since 1996.

I can't think of anything more Spurs.

Who gives a shit? As long as they are paying us a decent wedge.

Villa and Paulinho. I can't believe that we could actually have those two players on our squad come mid July (Maybe sooner?).

Hewlett Packard becoming our shirt sponsor is interesting. I was just looking at some of the stock market shit (Because, I'm a very talented/smart stock broker - not) and Hewlett Packard came in 15th this year in the Forbes 500 ranking. I think that's good and could be a solid sponsor moving forward.

Totally agree. I actually feel with our midfield we've got a solid blend of talents. A couple of guys that can play in the box-to-box, defensive and playmaking role. I'm just really hoping we see Holtby/Carroll getting some consistent time.

As far as striker, I still believe we need to land a younger striker/wide forward type. Selling Defoe could allow us to save money on the wages of a young player, but maybe taking a slight loss on the transfer fee.

And, unless that young player is ready to contribute on the left with Villa playing centrally, I'd be most comfortable with a starting caliber left winger coming in.

I honestly think LB may be put on hold to see how Rose/BAE perform. Should they falter, we might hold off until January to address the situation a la Arsenal with Monreal this past year.

Arh the klinsmann days, the most exciting spurs signing for me, was there such a thing as ITK back then?

I feel we should give Kane a chance. Admittedly he definately isn't ready but as the past has shown premier league experience whether its only a 10 minute stint a game can do young players wonders and really help his development.

As an English premier league club it would also help us maintain a core of British players with the probable impending sales of Livermore, hudd, Parker and naughton

The most important thing for a 19 year old is consistent match time, not cameos.

He needs matches and if he could get them at a club like Crystal Palace, Hull City, Sunderland or any other bottom-feeder it'd be enormous for his growth.

Much more so than the odd chance he comes on when we have a big lead (which didn't happen often this season).

I see where you are coming from on this, but my personal opinion is that he needs to go to a team where he will get game time, and at a decent level, not just a few minutes here and there and a few cup games. To develop he needs time on the pitch, and a low/mid EPL team or a high Championship team would be best, as long as he will be there main striker and get game time.

I agree with that too but playing with top quality players can have a massive impact too
