I deleted my post as I realised he has taken a role as a coach. TBF I'd still have him over Rose.

Based on the last few pages you'd think the window consisted of us signing Louis Saha and Ryan Nelsen and no one else...

Why on God's green earth would Hulk buy himself out of his contract? Why would we ever sign any of the unattached players on that list? Good lord.

What about David Villa?

I'd assumed that Chadli was Plan B for Villa as part of a front three. Villa signed for AM on 8th July. Chadli signed for Tottenham on 21st July. I'd always though that Villa would not have been our only front three player. We were after Benteke and Villa at the same time. We got Chadli and Soldado instead. Chadli is apparently a flexible player who can play in a front free or as attacking central midfielder, providing us with cover. We were only in for Willian because he suddenly became available and AVB likes him. We got Eriksen instead, who was our pre-Willian target. Lamela was someone known to and admired by Baldini and was always a target.
That's the way I saw it as unfolding.

Personally, I'm more than happy with the transfer window, and am looking forward to seeing a powerful spurs team taking the PL by storm.

But, this being the ITK thread, and there being some rumblings of something still being afoot:

I've heard nothing to say anything has changed, to caveat I've heard nothing to re-enforce for other a month. The answer was 9/11. Being a fan i'd like to stick by that date and keep hopes alive.

and with Joel Zimelstern having aluded to some kind of 'Deal' being worked on by the club (assumed but not confirmed to be a player) I'm hooked.

It's not likely to be a player now, but it has been interesting to explore (and close) any available loopholes to see if we can second guess the genius that is Levy.

It's certainly more interesting than writing pages of SQL...

Could the deal still being worked on be for Hailovic?
Still too young to come this summer, so no need to rush it.

Yeah we could announce a deal that we have signed him on a pre-contract for next summer, but we couldn't sign him and loan him back outside of a window.

I know it's not ITK or even the wash up, but Tim Vickery on talkshite says we failed in a bid for Alexander Pato. Wouldn't pay whatever the Corinthians asking price was. o_O

He could do that and we would give him the equivalent in a signing on fee. Stops us from getting ripped off by Zenit.

Any payment a club gives to hulk would lead to an income tax liability so if it cost 30m to buy out contract we would have to pay him close to double that to cover tax & buyout

I bet any move for a striker was dependent on Adebayor or Defoe being sold. That obviously didn't happen so we just have to hope Adebayor can function as a guy who has to fight just to be a backup. I hate to say it, but I have my doubts.

Sorry for being dense. Wasn't there a recent window when some clubs were able to still sort out loans after the end of the permanent transfers?
