Alderweild I would imagine.
There are two parts to the sentence, interest has cooled in Defender A and we have started talking to Defenders B, C, etc.. So I believe when Tiger666 says Ilori I believe he is referring to the Defenders we are talking to and NOT the one we lost interest in, who I believe you are correct in saying is Alderweild. :coffee:

Interesting about siggy it has been mooted for about four weeks. he made an official request to leave on loan.

He is one of these players like rooney where if they do not play regularly it takes them a few games to get into the swing of things.

if he is sold I will be so irritated the boy is special.

Really, really hope we decide to keep him. Thought he was doing really well the latter part of the season.
Also, I'm a bit bothered that we're trying to shift too many players, even though the names of potential incomings sounds exciting.

We don't need Erikson, we have Holtby, Carroll and Sig. Sig looked the part in the second half of the season, I'm convinced that he could go on to be a real star like Gudjohnsen. Let's show faith in these players.

Could Erikson be a replacement for Sig? I don't know much about Erikson so a bit clueless.

Dont care if we get Eriksen now, just sign a defender. Cannot imagine this becomes our problem before the season start.

True. While the squad needs quality and depth, it's never good to shake things up too much. There does seem to be a massive amount of changes to the squad this window if all the talk is to be believed, it's good in terms of squad strength but no doubt causes disruption.

Players like Siggy I think need to be kept, but if he is genuinely unhappy at not playing regularly enough, then we may have to think again. A loan will only work if he goes somewhere good and plays well enough that he will walk straight into our team when he gets back, with us having realised we were wrong to keep him out. No sense in it to me. Hopefully it's not true, and he's happy to be a part of a strong squad, without the guarantee of a starting slot every weekend. If Bale stays, Eriksen comes in, and we sign others, he will NOT be a regular starter, but he will be part of a VERY strong squad in terms of the midfield.

I feel we lack a little magician (and I don't mean Paul Daniels). When I watch players like David Silva at his best play an inventive pass I often think that no one at Spurs would have played that pass. I really rate Holtby, Carroll and Sig but not sure any of them fit the bill. Carroll has the potential too but probably needs a year on loan somewhere player every week

Must confess I have not seen enough of Erikssen to know if he is the answer. Anyone care to comment?

I've only seen Erikson in the Euros and he was poor, he could be a replacement for Sig but I hope not. To get rid of two players after one season wouldn't be good at all.

People always seem to put Carroll in our choice of midfielders. I agree the lad has shown glimpses, but if he starts more than a couple of games in the league for us this season (i might even go as far and say 'any game' for us in the league season) then we'll be struggling. Get him out on loan again and see what he can do.

That's why i'm pleased we're looking at further midfield options - i'm not necessarily sold on Eriksen but they're basically the same age and one has achieved a ridiculous amount in his career and the other hasn't.

I know Carrol is loved in here so NEG away!!

Yeah fair point. We have had ITK suggesting Gylfi may be off though so just wondering.

Dembele doesn't fit the bill but not many people expect him to be on the bench, but I can see him being substituted a lot. Sandro, Paulinho and Moutinho could have been the perfect midfield but it wasn't to be. So the three players that we do have for the role, two of which only came here last season must be given a chance. Otherwise it kind of sends out a message that they don't have too much of a future with us.

Wouldn't see Eriksen as an upgrade on Holtby or Siggi tbh. With Carroll in the mix too I'm expecting AVB to continue putting faith in 'squad' players by using them all regularly. Hope to God we can get away from the Redknapp model of using the same XI continually until it blows up in March.

This is what i love about DL, he's always looking to get the best deal out of any transfer, not just regarding the fee, he's always looking to build up positive and useful relationships with other clubs :) He has increased our global image by partnering us with huge clubs in China, Spain, The US and South Africa and has used other clubs facilities to get the best for our players like the loans to Swindon and the medical facilities at Ajax! This is why I love DL ;)

It's only a fuckin family fun day!! :)
