Sherwood could always be number 2 to Villas-Boas...

Can he?

I'm pretty sure the beard will be his #2

Sherwood could be his #3

No wait, his coat will be #3

So Sherwood could be his #4. But he would be the most powerful #4 in the league. No, second most powerful #4 behind Mancini's dandy scarf.

I wont believe its AVB till JJ endorses it.

I'd take his word over all the other ITK combined.

I have just been sent the top part of Sherwood's contract

Contract of Employment From Tottenham Hotspur FC
Name: Frank Arnesen. Damien Comolli Tim Sherwood

Position: Director of football Technical Director
Duration of Contract: 4 years*

apparently Joe Lewis is really ready to push the boat out and has sanctioned the purchase of new keyboards with a working Backspace & delete (and Microsoft Word 95 to replace note pad...)

Maybe he didn't.

What he did in Portugal was tremendous. I don't write off that achievement at all.

They all have concerns some less than others.

In management it's not a shallow concern. The age Rooney PLAYED at has NOTHING to do with 34 year old managers. If you wanna discuss Rooney that's summink completely different. BUT in management it's not very common at all, far less common than 17 year olds playing internationally. But like I said Rooney has nothing to do with anything.

How many managers have previously managed in the prem at 34? Any? It doesn't mean he'll fail and if he becomes manager i'll back him completely. But most management is based on experience and communication. Most managers hit their peak in their 40s or 50s some even later. Again it doesn't mean he'll fail. BUT it is a legitimate concern and he's the only serious candidate it can be levelled at. It shouldn't be dismissed as shallow just because you want him in. Thankfully Levy will be more objective - I doubt he'll consider Rooney's international career when deciding at least...

I say its shallow because it focuses on the age over the years of experience he has gained. Most managers have some form of playing experience before they coach. Villas Boas was put straight into coaching at an early age by Sir Bobby Robson and subsequently has had plenty of experience communicating, working at some of the biggest clubs in football with Jose Mourinho. I hope you can see I'm not dismissing age as a factor because I rate him, I am dismissing it because it doesn't carry the relevance normally associated with coaches of that age, in the case of Villas Boas.

If Levy believes AVB to be the right man, then so do I. I'm sure he's discussed the 'failure' at Chelsea and raised any issues. If he's satisfied then so am I.
