Lewis, Nunes and John Stones all preferred today in midfield over Phillips, yet Southgate has him down as one of his first picks. No way JWP deserves dropping instead of this guy.

Blimey, Garry has finally made some changes and is playing Madders in his proper position.
Infuriating to see Henderson still playing in what's a pretty fresh and experimental side.

They do a completely different job. If I'm wanting to pick a player to shield the back line, break up play and keep it simple I'm not picking JWP. All this outrage he's being picked over more attacking midfielders is quite frankly ridiculous.

Be outraged if he's being picked over better options at DM by all means but I don't think there are any tbh.

Maddison putting his shot so wide it’s an Aussie throw in to protest against Int footy meaning no Spurs games…

Watkins is not very good.
Lets a tap in go between his legs and then can’t finish a simple 1 on 1.
Harry would be on a hattrick by now.

Maddison only positive on show because he's not shackled, constantly trying to get us up the pitch. Grealish has been a black hole attacking wise so far, recycle and repeat

Think Englands issue is all the midfielders seem to want to go into the same spaces. The striker on also isn't good enough so far also.

Johnston also looks shaken in goals, doesn't seem to want to come out for crosses.

Madders having to tell his team-mates to switch on for the corner, telling them to think as he wanted to play it in and nobody was paying attention.

Don't think many in the 'first team' are going to be worrying about their places at the moment.

I’m wondering whether female refs would work well in the PL.
I think it might solve some problems. I mean the players are used to crowding around refs and being verbal, but I don't think many of them would give the same amount of aggro to a woman.

At the same time I don't like the hypocrisy of saying "no" to male, on field referees in the female game this past world cup for reasons. Yet to do the same in the male game would be sexist. I've got no problems with either, just don't like the hypocrisy of it.
