I wouldn't say we are particularly thin, just not ideally staffed. Going with a 343, we have five players for the top 3 (Kane, Kulu, Son, Moura and Bergwijn), four for the middle two (Skipp, Bentacur, Hojbjerg and Winks) and six CBs for the back three.

We are lacking quality in some spots and a RWB is sorely needed, but we have shifted a lot of players that had become supernumerary.

I assume it’s because it’s a free transfer, basically, so Newcastle can say we will give you a 5m loan fee and you can see him in the summer for cash…

Very happy with the 2 we’ve brought in. Also on board with the 4 biggies we’ve let go/loaned out although I still don’t understand what happened to Dele’s talent and attitude and I expect GLC to look terrific at Villarreal.

Overall a little concerned we’re still 2 players short having failed to address priority areas (eg RWB). Think we’ve had a more effective window than most EPL teams though.

RWB is the only one that bugs me slightly, however moving on deadwood allowing competition for youngsters is massive

The current Ali will offer little to either team, will take a dramatic change for him to have any impact.

He's right though. I'm not just trying to push out any optimism, but things can and do happen very quickly on deadline day. Just because we aren't actively pushing for anyone it doesn't mean something won't get offered late, or a deal we thought couldn't happen all of a sudden the selling club changes their minds/terms in order to bring someone else in.

Never say never but it's unlikely after this afternoon.

Yeah I don’t think you can rule out anything at this club. I mean who’d have thought we’d cancel Aurier’s contract at the end of the last window. Under Mourinho’s first January window we were striker trying to bring a striker in until the last seconds (some Israeli chap) so if Conte thinks he wants something last minute then who knows. Levy loved a last minute deal under Redknapp too let’s not forget. It’s probably over but best to not rule anything out.

Kulusevski was being touted as a £100m player not long ago iirc. Bentancur I don't know about but if Conte wants him, thats good enough for me. How anyone can be underwhelmed is beyond me, but each to their own. I'm hyped to see them in action.

Add to that shipping out 3 unwanted players, and a fourth who we may still want but is too raw for the PL right now.

The thing is. I can't even remember the last time ITK didn't say "2 in, maybe 3", (I think Trix may have repeatedly stated this?) and until tonight the majority of this place was saying they were fine with that.

And they even said it would be even better if we can shift some of the shit that's been stinking out the place.

Why are people so surprised & (seemingly) annoyed that they got what they said they'd be happy with?

Agreed. Mainly for the brilliant use of supernumerary.

Everton and Newcastle fighting over Dele is the 2022 version of us and Everton fighting over Moussa Sissoko back in the day.

The only real winner is the selling club.

Loan wouldn't be that bad - we can put an obligation clause in there and hopefully a different payment structure to Everton

For Spurs fans who feel bad about window of letting go many players...

Number of PL games started under Conte: Dele - 1 ; Ndombele - 1 ; Gil -0 ; Lo Celso - 0

That 1 game was Vs Liverpool where Ndombele,Dele started..when Hobjerg Skipp,Lucas were carrying knocks.

So, may be Conte is getting what he wants ? First sign of us backing him in the way he wants ?

Let's not get carried away, we will know by mid July whether we are backing Conte or not.

You clearly haven't seen much of Newcastle and Everton. Dele in his current form is miles better than anything they have, particularly in the case of newcastle. That's the thing. The distance between the top clubs and the rest really isn't insignificant.

In any case. I'd take say 10m + 30m buy obligation if certain conditions met over the ambiguous Everton offer.
