Looking at the managers Scott Parker has played for if hE picked up a bit from each manager he could do alright. And if he does you’d think he would always come to us. It would be good to see him as manager one day. Bit like lampard at Chelsea or arteta at the scum.

Thoughts?

There will always be pros and cons to anything they decide to do. I'm in favour of some regulation being brought in but a flat salary cap means teams in League One could be severely disadvantaged if they get promotion to the Championship (which let's face it is the league that most needs a bit of regulation given how many clubs overspend to try to reach the PL) by not being able to attract the best available players prior to promotion, and most of all I find it a bit strange that Sunderland and Portsmouth have the same flat wage budget as Crewe when their revenues are vastly different.

I think a fixed proportion of revenue (say 60% for argument's sake) would make more sense than a flat cap. Even that measure would help an awful lot of clubs balance the books better than they have previously.

But we have to remember this is what the clubs have voted for, at least 16 of the 24 clubs in both Leagues 1 and 2 have voted in favour of this.

Hell Sunderland probably had at least one player who cost them all of that £2,5m they're now allowed a year on his own in their first season down there, that's ~48k a week, and while that is obviously ridiculous for that level and was never sustainable they have a huge average attendance and revenue streams that far exceed almost all other clubs in the division bar maybe Portsmouth and Ipswich, it does feel particularly unfair on them.

On the flip side, if Sunderland do manage to adhere to the cap and win promotion they should have a sizeable profit that they can spend on players when they go up

Charlton seem to be the next club trying to avoid the same fate as Bury.

More dodgy football club owners:

Swann has taken away the name of Glanford Park - and now, after rattling up £11-million worth of debts he knew the club could not afford, he has effectively taken all the assets and has arguably put SUFC's future in greater jeopardy than it has ever been before.

He has wiped out the £11-million debt he has incurred - but as compensation he has acquired all the assets, the stadium and the surrounding area.

They have been transferred to one of his companies - and should, anyone ever be interested in replacing him as owner of the club, they would have to pay an unspecified rent that he would set for the privilege of playing at Glanford Park - or buy it back off him.

Cambridge United have gone full on “Spursy”
Need one point from last three games to go up to League One.
Game one - lost at home to Stevenage
Game two - 3-0 down away at Harrogate after 19 mins
Game three is home to already relegated Grimsby...
