We really haven't learned any lessons on player mentality if true.

Completely agree.

Also, I find it a bit puzzling that we are being linked to the same targets we have been linked to for years.

Lingard, Traore, Martial are all club targets and pre-date Conte and even Paratici.

Now sure, maybe someone like Traore, it's just a coincidence and FP and Conte wanted him at other clubs, but Lingard and now Martial?

Who is selecting our transfer targets?

Just strange to have a new manager and director of football come in, but we still try to sign the same players as we did under Jose and Poch.

And to add to that...would anyone seriously believe Conte would be pushing hard for Martial?

I reckon he'd be way down his list of targets.

Yeah strange one. Maybe because we thought a loan might be possible, or Romano has been fed some crap from his agent.

Cheers for the info- but it's too late for him
He should have come to us 4/5 years ago
If we’re being real though could do far worse than him. Not saying he’s amazing or anything but he’d defo give us goals from the wings and can also fill the role of backup striker. Will never happen though.

Agree. Being a conte approved target is very different from being who Conte wants.

Are we just offering him these targets because it is what is available / we can afford?

Or are we actually going out with intent to sign the players he really wants?

The downside to us not having enough money to do, say, Vlahovic this window if we need to because of other interest is much much much greater than waiting 10 additional days for Traore.

Isn't it over 90% of transfers that occur in the last few days of each transfer window? I never understand why anyone expects us to sign anyone before the last week when it goes against what happens in the majority of transfers.

I think people were panicking watching Villa and Newcastle bring a few in and seeing Arsenal have strong links to Vlahovic whilst we couldn't even get Adama over the line.

Taking a step back it seems like there isn't much going on currently, even at Arsenal. Case in point being that Christian Eriksen to Brentford on a free is the current hot topic.

I'm calm again now but also not sure why we couldn't have had at least one transfer wrapped up early for our new manager like Villa/Newcastle did.

Don’t you know we operate a strict one out one in transfer policy ?

Oh and we are skint too when it comes to improving the playing squad but wedged up for any property development or property portfolio additions that present themselves in the vicinity of the as yet unsponsored stadium.

If true, it was probably an attempt to get Martial on loan until the summer when we want a permanent solution (e.g. Vlahovic). Martial can play as a WF or a 9.

I agree and don't want Troare anyway. Vlahovic isn't moving this window, it seems most noise is about him changing clubs in the summer. I saw earlier that over the last decade half of our signings in january have happened in the last couple of days of the window (and the list of players we brough in is shocking). It isn't like we have had lots of fixtures anyway they could have played it.
