I don’t want Dumfries. Literally don’t rate him. He’s so so painfully average I just do not get what he does well
11 goals and 19 assists since the start of the 20/21 season.

Compare that to:

Hakimi - 14 and 20
Cancelo - 8 and 21
Reece James - 9 and 17
Alexander-Arnold - 7 and 26

For me stats wise he's definitely up there with some of the best wing backs in the game. He also has the physicality and fitness that's required in a Conte PL team. In fact he knows the Conte system already given he's played for him at Inter, so he's definitely a "ready to go" signing.

I realise it's a youtube highights video and was put together with the rumours of him joining Chelsea in the summer, but there's a lot to like in here -

The biggest issue right now is that there is a lack of quality, ready to go, proven RWBs in the world that are obtainable. Dumfries is one of them.

The worry with De Vrij is that I'd heard people saying he'd lost more than a yard. I know in Contes system the defence doesn't play very high but ATM it's too far back which is why we can't dictate games more and bringing in another CB who lacks pace isn't going to help that situation.

Dumfries I haven't seen much of but those who have seem to suggest technically he's just ok. I don't know if that's true but if it is it's just more of the same. We lack players with that ability on the ball. I'm not talking about stepovers etc. just the ability to receive the ball with little space and not lose it. It's a fundamental reason why some players come from abroad and struggle in England because of the mad workrate of teams to win the ball back.

As far as right wing backs go, we’ve pissed away a fortune on Aurier, Doherty, Emerson and still not got the right man to replace Walker. It’s high time we bite the bullet and pay what’s required.. and actually replace him!

Not sure Dumfries is a realistic target, contract till 2025 Inter will never sell in Jan or the summer unless we offer seriously over the odds. He plays every game for them.

Has he actually played under Conte? I think Conte signed him as the Hakimi replacement, but left before the season even started after they sold Lukaku.

Just for clarification it was two CB's I was talking about not two players specifically from Inter.

And a midfielder whose name i cannot share here. 23 year old. Would be a smart, yet brilliant signing, if we were successful.

Would anyone here take a punt on Ronaldo if he gets let go this winter?

I'm not sure he'll bring the work ethic we'd like, but if he's got a chip on his shoulder maybe we can harness that.

Whoever takes him has to start him or they end up with the same issue that United had with him. We’ve got 4 options to start in our attack currently and I wouldn’t start him over any of them. Just wouldn’t fit what we are trying to do, everyone has to put in a shift for our style of play to be successful right now

The only possible positive outcome is that it would stop him scoring against us. Unless he is that vindictive he starts shooting for own-goals
