Solid is all well and good, and certainly every team needs some players that are reliable if not exceptional.

But boy would it be nice if we could snaffle one or two difference makers as opposed to much of the same signings.

Bentancur, Kulusevski, Romero. Great signings, improved us signings, but we've got to keep this upward trajectory.

No more feckin about with make do RBs/RWBs or CBs like Sanchez.

I'm not asking, nor expecting elite players, but I do think it about time we stopped feckin about with the much of muchness type signings and started to have a few more difference making signings by way of being a bit more savvy in our recruitment.

I get Walker was going to be hard to replace. Although many of us (me included) were critical of his brain farts, and actually thought Aurier for half the Walker fee was good business. But how many times can we get one position wrong.

Look at the likes of Vinicius, Soldado, Janssen. I get a back up to Kane is a hard task, but I believe we've now got one in Richarlison, what happens, not played as a starting 9.

I suppose what I'm getting at is I'd just like us to actually sign some difference makers, not the same standard players, and let's actually play them in their best positions first and foremost.

Just think about how Bentancur and Deki would have been described last January - Juve fans were not disappointed in seeing them go...

Sometimes, it just takes getting the right player, with the right skill set, into the right environment.

I am not saying Mckennie is that player - but, I would not dismiss him just because he is not an £100M player.

I totally agree. I wouldn't dismiss based on a reasonable fee for any unproven player in our league.

My point being, we seem to have a habit of picking the busts a little too often.

Yeah a mixed bag, some excel, some are no better than what they're meant to hopefully compete with and improve us, some are bang average.

5 1/2 years almost since Walker left. I'm not expecting us to have signed someone as good as him, after all, he went for a then World record fee for a defender.

But is it too much to expect us to have somebody a little bit more able in the 5 1/2 years since his leaving.

Mason Mount has allegedly rejected his latest Chelsea Contract offer…

not saying he would be remotely realistic for us but would be a brilliant addition…his creativity and ability to play wide and on set pieces would be such an asset to the team

Eh……..for real?

1 - Mount would never, in a million years, join Spurs due to his love for Chelsea.

2 - Mount is shit. Not got one single attribute that is stand out.

3 - Mount is shit. Again.

haha not for real at all really, hence the not remotely realistic Aspect, but points completely taken! He wouldn’t ever join us because of his love for Chelsea…

…which means he is probably going to Arsenal ??

I think Mckennie could potentially offer something - mainly pressing from what little I’ve seen, but he’s not elite. His Whoscored.com scores are historically around 6.5 - 6.6 which is pretty bad. Hojbjerg is regularly above 7 - 7.5 over the competitions and we should be targeting players turning out those kind of scores at least.

I understand people might deride whoscored scores but they’re generally quite consistent. For example, Sissoko frequently scored similarly to Mckennie.

But then would he be coming as a starter - probably no. So he’d be for depth?

?

You can't be serious??
Signing or not signing a player based off Whoscored ratings?

McKennie is bang average wouldn’t pick him above any of our four CM. We can improve CB GK RWB LWB and all would be a bigger priority than CM

I like the look of Canada's Tajon Buchanan, he looks a real prospect with plenty of pace.

Plays RWF which would give us some competition for Kulusevski

That Alphonso Davies fella from Canada is not bad. He must be attainable ?

Piero Hincapie (LCB) and Pedro Porro (RWB) would be very high on my wish list but not sure if either would be available in January.

Remember when we were linked to Goretzka. Off course before he left for Munich.
Will take a look at Olmo tonight

Tonight? It's only been about 10 minutes.
Yes, he's scored a cracker but Dean Marney scored a cracker too. ?

(I'm only being pedantic btw, he's a good player but the fact you said to look at him tonight ..?)
