I said he targeted managers who specifically were known for their work with young players. And he must have been pretty good at it considering we’d never finished top 6 in the premier league era pre Levy, but since 2005/6 we’ve finished 5th, 5th, 11th, 9th, 4th, 5th, 4th, 5th, 6th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd and 4th most recently. If Levy has been targeting these so called motivational managers he hasn't been to good at it has he. we haven't one a thing . I agree Poch has probably been the best but even he can't win anything in nearly six years and with what "some" people say is our best squad ever. If it's not Levy and it's not Poch or his predecessors and it's not the players where does the blame for our lack of success lay?
The evidence of their work at previous clubs for every manager post Hoddle was that they could build sides greater than the sum of their parts by improving young footballers. Ramos, AVB, Santini, Jol, and actually even Redknapp based on his West Ham says (not to mention his success with younger or unproven players at Spurs). Obviously Pochettino. I’m not saying these were all correct choices, it turns out that of those, only Jol, Redknapp and Pochettino (who between them have managed 12 of the past 15 seasons) were ‘right’, but at the end of the day you can’t argue with a) the progress we’ve made and b) the type of manager being identified.
